That about sums it up...However as a teacher spends more time with the iPad and is able to use it as tool to help extend the walls of the classroom, and sees how students collaborate, problem solve, and create the teacher realizes that the iPad is just a tool and it is how he/she uses it in class that will make all the difference in the world.  Kinda like IWB; once upon a time if you had an IWB in your classroom regardless of how it was being used one thought they were effectively integrating technology in the curriculum.  Now many classrooms do not have IWB because they are not student centered!

This is a very interesting article that I enjoyed reading very much. Since I already use iPads in the classroom, I was reflecting on how to engage with other non-iPad users and how to encourage them to use the iPads effectively. I liked how on number 7 talks about utilizing content-creation apps and not just content-specific apps. I usually try using applications that are generic and that can be used for multiple subjects. My students really like using shadow puppet to teach different lessons or explain something they learned. These types of applications are not limited just to one specific subject and are perfect for students to get exposed to technology that embraces creativity and higher levels of thinking.

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There | iPad & Literacy | Scoop.it

"This picture was drawn in response to a post called 'Drawing On A Napkin: Is This How iPads Function In A Traditional Classroom?' by the esteemed Terry Heick.

Mine was not drawn on a napkin, but on Notability. And, to answer that snarky Johannesburg based iPad trainer who cannot believe I can do what I do using the iPad, yes I did create it myself!

This is what I think iPads are 'for' in education. Let me know what you think."

Just because a news outlet says this doesn't make it accurate over the long term. Kids brains have changed compared to most parents and teachers, and more research needs to be done. The last time studies to depth were conducted was a lifetime ago.

6 Ready To Go iPad Centers ~ Mrs. Wideen's Blog | iPad & Literacy | Scoop.it

"A few of the following iPad Centers/Stations I have posted before, however I thought it might be useful to post them again, at the beginning of the year so you know they are here if you want to try something new during your literacy or math block.  All of the centers can be done using one or two iPads at the center and are actual centers that my students used last year.  I hope you find them useful or they spark new ideas to try with your students."

Get This Pair of Free Digital books from iPad Educators - Constructivist Apps | iPad & Literacy | Scoop.it

"iPad Educators is a great website with the tagline "Redefining Teaching, From Dubia to the World." The website is run by four educators and is non-commercial, which is great because their app reviews are not paid for by the app developers (as I have discovered, many app review sites get paid to write their reviews). iPad Educators also has featured articles and interviews with iPad educators."
