Augmented Reality Coloring Pages- ClassTechTips.com

Augmented Reality Coloring Pages- ClassTechTips.com | iPad learning | Scoop.it
“ After reading this article in the New York Times yesterday I started thinking about one of my favorite coloring apps for children. No matter how old or young you are coloring requires a combination of skills that can be applied in various situations. Combining coloring with augmented reality is an easy way to introduce this exciting technology to students. The colAR Mix app (available for iOS and Android devices) is a super fun choice with plenty of free options.”

Kim Flintoff's curator insight, April 17, 10:18 PM

The lesson here for higher ed is about developing familiarity with new technologies.  The possibilities for AR across all disciplines are immense, but often students (and teachers) find it difficult to initially connect with a use that allows them to start to conceive of how it can be used.  Something as ubiquitous as colouring is used in many contexts (think of the Anatomy colouring book used by many health practitioners to learn about systems and connections).

Jarrod Johnson's curator insight, April 18, 8:15 PM

Just bought a colouring in book for Sophie that does this. The fact that I can make my own is cool.

6 Good iPad Apps to Enhance Kids Mathematical Thinking

6 Good iPad Apps to Enhance Kids Mathematical Thinking | iPad learning | Scoop.it
Here is a set of good iPad apps that you can use with students to enhance their mathematical thinking. These apps are meant for young learners and are specifically useful when introducing kids to those rudimentary notions of mathematical computations. The purpose of teaching kids to think mathematically, as detailed in Kaye Stacey's paper, is three folds: First, it will allow kids to conduct mathematical investigations by themselves. Second, it will help them acquire other thinking skills particularly problem-solving and as mathematician Paul Halmos (1980) stated, 'problem solving is the heart of mathematics'. Third, it helps kids get a deeper appreciation of mathematics and use it in their daily and working lives.

Top Apps to Help Make and Keep Goals for Teachers AND Students | iPad learning | Scoop.it
Learning to make and achieve goals is one of the key skills for students to learn before they graduate, but it’s also one of the most challenging to teach and to learn. Keeping track of large assignments, breaking down goals into manageable steps, and working systematically to accomplish something, are all essential skills to learn in order to be successful as life becomes increasingly more complex.
