10 Great Resources to Find Educational iPad Apps for Your Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

10 Great Resources to Find Educational iPad Apps for Your Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it

"One of the questions I get asked so often is about the resources I draw on for curating educational apps I share with you here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning. Well, I am subscribed to over a hundred blogs and websites through both RSS feed and social media and my feed stream is always teeming with hundreds of new things to write about. On average , I spend about 3 to 4  hours of daily  sifting, browsing, and curating in preparation for posts to share with you here, I know it is a lot of time but I do love it so much and I feel happy having to share something of value with my fellow teachers and educators."

Why & How to Green Screen in class - IPAD 4 SCHOOLS

Why & How to Green Screen in class - IPAD 4 SCHOOLS | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it

"Finding interesting ways to evaluate, reflect and report on work and projects can be tricky. Many students struggle to engage with the reflection properly as it is often a dry, unentertaining end to any unit or project. But that’s where the Green Screen App can help. (How-to help sheet below)

Remember:

People don’t learn from experience.
People learn when reflecting on experience.
People learn more when they can witness their own reflection."

Coding on iPads - Beginner to Pro - IPAD 4 SCHOOLS | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it
Code and programming may not be the most important topics on the planet but it is an area of study that sufferers two major problems. one: an industry with millions of unfilled job positions and two: a world where not enough teachers feel confident to run programming projects. The iPad can offer a solution in these situations.

REVIEW: Learn Coding, 21st Century Fluencies and The Mathematical Process With Robot School | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it
In this article I would like to explore a new coding app called Robot School from Next is Great (@nextisgreat). What hooked me immediately was how this app teachings kids to block code, but then shows them the syntax written in Swift. If you are unfamiliar, Swift is a new programming language for iOS. I love the concept of block code and syntax. It’s a perfect next step for avid coders.

ROBOTICS SCHOOL: In 21st century, this generation reached at the highest point of success in technology and we can think that this must  be the limit of technologies but the term Robotics School make them surprised. It is just a game for child fun but this might be in reality as well in future trends.

This looks really good. I can see the kids loving the 3d sprites and I am pleased to see that they can also access the code. We are going to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

Playing Outside iPad's Screen with Osmo - Learning in Hand with Tony Vincent | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it
Osmo was created by young parents and encourages social interaction by expanding interaction with games to the area in front of an iPad. It does this by providing a white stand and a red mirror that works with iPad and iPad mini. The reflector lets the front-facing camera recognize what is placed in front of iPad. Something to know is that iPad must be removed from any case in order to fit into the stand.

Sra. Spanglish: Three Apps, Three Types of Movie Projects

Sra. Spanglish: Three Apps, Three Types of Movie Projects | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it

"A quality five-minute movie project will suck weeks away from your class time, if done right. Then again, with the right technology--a coupla iPads, apps, and Web 2.0 accounts for example--a decent 30-second video can be churned out in a class period often with just the technology half your kids carry in their pockets.

There are three basic categories of movie project: basic non-edited,edited nonscripted, and scripted edited. that more or less align with different levels of assessment: practice, formative, and summative. The products of these project types are also suited to different audiences: self, teacher/peers, public. Since Christmas came in July, and I now have my very own set of 10 class iPads, I've selected an iPad app to focus on for each movie making level."

Project-Based Learning Through a Maker's Lens - Edutopia

Project-Based Learning Through a Maker's Lens - Edutopia | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it

"The rise of the Maker has been one of the most exciting educational trends of the past few years. A Maker is an individual who communicates, collaborates, tinkers, fixes, breaks, rebuilds, and constructs projects for the world around him or her. A Maker, re-cast into a classroom, has a name that we all love: a learner. A Maker, just like a true learner, values the process of making as much as the product. In the classroom, the act of Making is an avenue for a teacher to unlock the learning potential of her or his students in a way that represents many of the best practices of educational pedagogy. A Makerspace classroom has the potential to create life-long learners through exciting, real-world projects."

While I was surfing around the internet the other day, I came across a procedure that allows you to record the screen of your iOS device using QuickTime Player on your Mac.  As someone who could really benefit from this feature for demonstrative purposes, my curiosity was definitely peaked.  Add to that the fact that it is built into every Mac running Yosemite and that it’s completely free, and I knew that some of you, too, would really appreciate knowing how it works.  Here’s a quick tutorial based upon Aaron Douglas’ Blog post on The Dangling Pointer.

Three Free iPad Apps Students Can User Over and Over - Learning in Hand @TonyVincent

Three Free iPad Apps Students Can User Over and Over - Learning in Hand @TonyVincent | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it

 - Learning in Hand There are already a lot of apps in Apple's App Store for iPad and iPhone (over 1.5 million), and more are added each day. In fact, this month an average of 1,400 apps have been submitted to the App Store. Despite the outrageous number of apps, only a small percentage end up piquing my interest.

The apps I get most excited about are ones that are open-ended. I like to make things, and I love it when an app empowers students (and teachers) to create digital productions. Shadow Puppet Edu, Adobe Voice, and TeleStory are three apps that facilitate creativity. They provide students a way to retell stories, explain concepts, or persuade an audience.

Inspiring Writing using Adventure Game Creation with Book Creator App - Sept 2014 Blog Post

Inspiring Writing using Adventure Game Creation with Book Creator App - Sept 2014 Blog Post | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it

This term I have been working with upper Key Stage 2 pupils to develop interactive adventure style games in Book Creator. One of the features of the app is it allows you to link objects such as images and text to other pages within the book. For images, tap on the image to select it, then tap on the Info icon and use the hyperlink box to type in the page number. For text, highlight the text withIn the text box and you will see a hyperlink option.

This has enabled us to create games where choices, questions and decisions are asked of the user/player throughout. We have then used this as a stimulus for writing, not only creatively but also instruction and advertising. Above are a few screen shots of an example book I made but I didn't want to show the pupils too much as I wanted them to come up with their own ideas.

A Must See Chart on SAMR Model and iPad Teaching ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Must See Chart on SAMR Model and iPad Teaching ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | iPad apps in de klas | Scoop.it

"Technology integration in instruction is a process that starts with setting out clearly defined objectives and ends with assessing learning outcomes against these objectives, and all along the way several tools and strategies are employed to attend to the overall performance of this process. Hence, the first question teachers need to ponder when thinking about using technology in class is not what kind of technology to use but what do they want to achieve behind using this technology? On a deeper level, they need to find answers to questions such as: Does this technology constitute a a good addition to the learning task ?  Can the same learning task be performed without using technology? These and several other questions  should come to the forefront when you start planning a technology-based learning activity.
