The addition of discussions moves iTunesU from an elaborate textbook to something that involves collaboration - a good move. Pity it's only for private courses.

Moodle Plugins Directory: Drag and Drop Organic Chemistry Nomenclature

Moodle Plugins Directory: Drag and Drop Organic Chemistry Nomenclature | Apps for education | Scoop.it
Students construct the names of organic molecules by dragging and dropping. Learning organic chemistry nomenclature is not extremely difficult and most students acquire the basics quickly. Unfortunately a good percentage of students mangle the format, punctuation and/or spelling, losing valuable points on exams and quizzes. With this in mind a new question type was designed to reinforce IUPAC nomenclature with an emphasis on formatting and punctuation. Students must construct names by dragging and dropping parent chains, prefixes, suffixes and punctuation symbols to form the correct name.

Educational institutions should enter the mobile age and embrace the opportunity to be more effective, efficient, and cost sensitive than ever before. The challenge, like with any disruption, is to rethink the system design and utilize new concepts, such as multi-persona, that align with this new age of mobility. Exciting times are ahead for educators.
