Here's the pitch:

Recap: Share your crazy idea. Win money. That's freaking awesome!
Paul Kongshaug had panic attacks. Or so he thought. Starting while he was a student at Central College, and increasing in frequency over time, he would have episodes where he could not speak.
One of our favorite startup stories of all time (partly because we're a part of it). Paul shared his idea with us four months ago. "Oh, another one of these," we could have thought. Loyalty's a crowded market. Cards are dated technology. Iowa City is filled with competitors. It was crazy.
We signed on immediately.
Excited to see this take shape! And to say we had a hand in the planning process. Game room in the back? Our idea, of course.
The first day of autumn is just around the corner and Tutor Universe is wasting no time staying on top of the back-to-school season.
The boys in blue are back at it again. And again. And again. To the tune of 20K Users!
Create on, my friends.

"Creative Week" just might be the best thing to happen to the region since ... well, ever. Organizations looking to host their own event should contact Seed Here in the next week.
Oh, did we mention we'll live-tweet it?

In anticipation of our Silicon Prairie Awards next month, this week we're highlighting the software, Internet and mobile startups that call our region home. We published a list of
Hashtag #IowaCityStartups! SPN hits it home with an awesome list of homegrown companies to follow on our favorite (afternoon distraction) social platform.
A Kalona native, entrepreneur Roby Miller is going into the family business---and reinventing rural pharmacies in the process.
Roby Miller is a straight hustler. Period. The story of his telepharmacy startup (ask him about the time he talked his way into a software giant's office last year) is a testament to his unstoppable desire to build a game-changing enterprise. Needless to say, we're proud to call him a close friend.
Seed Here will celebrate its second birthday––which technically falls on Independence Day––and the "success of the East Coast of the Silicon Prairie" this Thursday ...
"We wanted to cultivate the conditions and community that give entrepreneurs and creatives the best possible chance to thrive."That they did. A belated "Happy Second!" from the Sculpt squad.

*Online Conversion Manager Wanted*GoodBlogs, a Decorah-based tech start up, is looking for a web-savvy individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will be at home on the web, have an eagerness to learn and experiment in a fast paced environment, and be incredibly dependable and responsible. Specifically, the Conversion Manager's role is to work with clients that license our software in order to convert their targeted web traffic into a trackable action (an eCommerce sale, a lead, a phone call, etc). This primarily will be accomplished through developing "calls to action" and the A/B split testing of ads and "nudges" on the client's GoodBlog. No specific experience is needed, but the ability to try out new ideas and concepts and then track and report the results is critical. This is an hourly, part-time position with potential to become a full time position within the next 6 - 12 months. *About GoodBlogs*GoodBlogs licenses a content marketing platform that encourages and rewards user generated blog posts. Our good buddies at GoodBlogs are looking for an Online Conversion Manager (Digital Marketing/Metrics, is what it sounds like). OK. Not quite "Iowa City" news, I know, but if you've hung out at a Creative Corridor startup event, or spent some time in Vault, you've definitely met these guys. We'll admit. Their job description sounds a lot like someone we'd snag for the Sculpt squad. So if things don't work out at GB....only kidding ;)

When we look for amazing brand stories, we look in our own backyard. Turns out -- American Express does too. Peep the blurb on Coralville (superstar medical app) startup, Higher Learning Technologies, to hear how they got started.

Brian Kaldenberg started his first business, GameRosters.com, in 2004 as a junior at Iowa State University. Kaldenberg, who has continued to operate GameRosters.com, was looking for new business ideas when he found one close to home in 2008.
Way to go, neighbor! Awesome story about a long-time friend (and client) of ours. Wicked cool company (with a wicked fun ping pong table).

1 Million Cups returns to Cedar Rapids to feature Health Tech Hatch at Vault Coworking & C...
We're mighty proud to have been a part of Health Tech Hatch's early days. In a few short months, HTH made quite the name for itself in the health tech and crowdfunding community. After monumental movement (and self-evaluation), the founders have pivoted the platform. What's next?
You'll have to ask them yourself.
When five individuals in April unloaded from a vehicle with Iowa plates in Portland, you would have probably recognized them as Cedar Rapids-based startup RecBob.
Save your RecBob swag, it's about to become a whole lot more valuable. We've been fangirling the Cedar Rapids based foosball pros since the early days (orange power!), so we're anxiously awaiting the outcome of their Techstars Demo Day tour. Cheer them on with us (@nextstep_io).
Nike on mah feet!
Some of ours. Most of theirs. And 10,000 of everyone else.
