FaceImageView - imageView with face recognition

FaceImageView - imageView with face recognition | iOS stuff | Scoop.it

FaceImageView automatically scales its image to fill the bounds and keep any faces detected in view. This can be useful if you want to display people-based dynamic content with UIViewContentModeScaleToFill but are having issues with it displaying the wrong part of the image, like the background, or someone's feet.

The class uses the CoreImage face detection APIs available in iOS 5.0 or later. This API works in many clear cases, but is not all that reliable. If no faces are detected in an image, FaceImageView defaults to centering the image, like UIImageView's behavior with UIViewContentModeScaleToFill.

Introduction to 3D drawing in Core Animation

Introduction to 3D drawing in Core Animation | iOS stuff | Scoop.it

The good news are Core Animation can help us achieve some 3D goodness without using OpenGL directly. There are bad news though: creating a complex 3D video game with Core Animation is not a good idea.

In the first part of this tutorial we’ll discuss some 3D theory and we’ll create some simple 3D scenes using the concepts described.

In the second part we’ll use Core Animation to create a 3D scene that should remind you the interface used in a carousel image gallery.

RNFrostedSidebar : A Control Center-esque control with blurred background and toggle animations.

RNFrostedSidebar : A Control Center-esque control with blurred background and toggle animations. | iOS stuff | Scoop.it

"You'll notice that this control's use of blur does not match Jakub's original design exactly. In the original design the background of the buttons is blurred, while the overlay of the control is simply shaded. There have beenattempts at recreating this effect, but it is rumored that live-blurring takes place at a much lower level on the GPU and there would be security concerns were we to have access.

Apple is being a little deceptive with their use of blurring in iOS 7. Bottom line, don't animate blurs in your designs."
