15 iPad Apps to Enhance Students Creativity ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

15 iPad Apps to Enhance Students Creativity ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | iOS in Education | Scoop.it

"I am revisiting this topic of enhancing students creativity using iPad apps for the second time this year. Almost 10 months ago I featured here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning a selection of some great apps http://bit.ly/185Tusc that can be used in class to boost students creative thinking; and today and after having reviewed hundred of new educational apps since that post, I decided to compile an updated version of that list and include some newly featured apps in the category of creativity.

Of course by creativity I mean giving students the chance to take their learning to the next step, one in which they are active producers and participators in knowledge building. Creativity is all about creation and iPad is an ideal device to support this creative thinking. Check out the apps I have handpicked for you today and share with us if you have other suggestions :"

The Voice-Off: Android vs. Siri

The Voice-Off: Android vs. Siri | iOS in Education | Scoop.it
Is speech recognition better on smartphones running Google’s operating system or Apple’s? That depends on how it’s used.
Gordon Shupe's insight:

I used to teach keyboarding. It has become increasingly more difficult to convince students that it is worth the time and effort (discipline) to develop this skill. But the promises of speech driven technology are really about to make the keyboard obsolete.

The unfortunate part is most people don't realize what a complicated process speech recognition and dictation is. I hear people cursing their smartphone, and often it really is not the software's fault.

Inquiry Learning Vs. Standardized Content: Can They Coexist?

Inquiry Learning Vs. Standardized Content: Can They Coexist? | iOS in Education | Scoop.it
Everyday there is less standardization of information, making it nearly impossible to decide what a student should know. Are sticking to content standards still appropriate?
Gordon Shupe's insight:

Which Is a more reasonable goal for our students? 'I know' or 'I  can learn?'

I found this thought-provoking: 'REDEFINE RIGOR. As the Google-age fully blossoms, the fundamental shift is from information to attitude. The instant, ubiquitous availability of knowledge puts enormous responsibility on the individual, as they try to sift through, discern, apply, and share information.'

Android -tabletit yleistyvät eikä iPad ole enää ainoa hyvä vaihtoehto tabletien opetuskäytössä. Niinpä Apple vastaa markkinointia tehostamalla. Tabletien käyttö aloitetaan usein jo ennen kouluikää. Niinpä Apple tarjoaa iTunesin digitaalista ekosysteemiä jo alle 13-vuotiaille. Kuinkahan nuoria ovat nuorimmat iTunesista lataajat?
