James Freeman's insight:

On a saturday night if im not out with friends, I will lay back and watch a disney movie or my personal favourites Star Wars, Harry Potter or Indiana Jones ( Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). Movies have always been an interest to me with their visual/CGI effects that are used. I enjoy watching a movie that feature some of my favourite actors or actresses, Harrision Ford, Danielle Radcliff, Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are a few of my personal favuorites.

Why do so many horrific accidents happen in China? | Introductory OHS | Scoop.it
Deadly escalators, fire traps and plunging lifts: Why do so many horrific accidents happen in China?

Via David Cant CMIOSH
James Freeman's insight:

Great appreciation should be held towards the Australian Government about Australia's Workplace Health and Safety laws as our laws are some of the best in the world. The Article " Why do so many horrific accidents happen in China?" really got me thinking about the level of safety and security the Australia Government has for its workers. China has one the highest levels of workplace realted incidents in the world, during the year of 2014 China reported 68,061 work deaths. As a studying Workplace Health and Safety student it is shocking to here those statictics about a country which has some of the highest level of education in the world.

Israel Uriondo's curator insight, March 16, 2016 7:35 AM

China is a place where I would really like to work just because there is still a lot to be done in terms of safety and risk management. An example of negligence can be seen in the article, where a woman died trapped in an elevator because the power was shut off due to the malfunctioning of the elevator. This could have easily been avoided by checking the elevator before shutting it down. And just like these accident there are so many others which could be prevented. That is why I would love to work in China, to eliminate future "what-ifs."

Jacqui Le Busque's curator insight, March 25, 2016 5:05 AM

I think we are really lucky to live in a country where we don't have a lot of crazy accidents and if they do occur people are around to investigate and prevent similar accidents occuring.

My dream job is to become a Workplace Health and Safety Officer in the mines. To me, becoming a Workplace Health and Safety officer in the mines would be a dream come true. James Freeman's insight:

I am a very big believer in Animal Rights and i also believe animals have feeling just like we as humans do. "The war to save Africa's elephants" as an animal activist is quiet a scary title to read as i have joined and donated hundred of dollars towards different organisations that help support different animal causes around Africa and the world. I hope to one day travel to Africa and experience elephants, lions and leopards and seeing them in their natural habitat an not behind a cemented cage.

New safety measures for Wormleighton level crossing - Travelandtourworld.com | Introductory OHS | Scoop.it
Users of Wormleighton footpath level crossing must use phones either side of the railway to gain permission to cross the busy Birmingham to Marylebone line.
James Freeman's insight:

'New Safety Measrues for Wormleighton Crossing' appealed to me because within the next five years i plan to become a Workplace Health and Safety Officer. The role of a Workplce Health and Safety Officer is to ensure all workers are safe from harms way through hazards or accidents waiting to happen. The Article " New Safety Measrues for Wormleighton Crossing" is an example of my future goal to become a WHS Officer as a safety hazard was noticed after a survey conducted in 2016 found a vulverablily was found between the time pedistrians could cross the line of the station to leaving the railway. This type of hazard is an example of how a WHS officer would analysis the situation to place a speed resrtiction on the trains to ensure all pedistrians depart safely from the railway.
