GPS Essentials is a great, free app for a smart phone to create some simple, geospatial data.  Need to create a GPX file with various waypoints (that imports nicely into ArcGIS)?  Try GPS essentials (or if you only need linear data about where you've been, Map My Run works if you don't mind needing a desktop to download the GPX file).

14 Web Based Video Tools for Teachers - More Than A Tech | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it
Engaging students has become increasingly difficult as technology has continued to shape our culture.  Overheads, DVDs, and lecturing just don’t cut it.  This is a generation of students growing up with YouTube, Vimeo, and Khan Academy to name a few.  So many creative, eye grabbing, funny videos to choose from, and all of them are available on a device that fits in their pocket.

10 Lesson Plans to Develop Digital Literacies

10 Lesson Plans to Develop Digital Literacies | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

Over the last few months I have been working hard to develop a set of commercially available lesson materials. These lesson plans aren't specifically designed for English language learners, though they will be useful for students at higher levels who want stimulating skills based practice or for any teacher interested in developing a CLIL or content based approach to language learning. They were designed to enable any teacher to develop students in a way that is more closely aligned to the kinds of skills they will need to function effectively and critically in the digital world.

This story map is a great visual of the current refugee crisis. This would be a helpful aid in describing the geographical barriers refugees face and how it affects them. For example the map shows where highest concentrations of deaths occur, naturally it is in the ocean. The ocean is a barrier for fleeing refugees. Think about how different landscapes and land forms can affect refugees available paths to flee
