This Will Be The #1 Business Skill Of The Next 5 Years | Linked In

This Will Be The #1 Business Skill Of The Next 5 Years | Linked In | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

by Shane Snow

"Every few minutes, a new buzzword rips through the business world, skids, gets a few quick books written on it, and ends up in a pile of tired terms next to "synergy." Today, one of the biggest corporate buzzwords is "storytelling." Marketers are obsessed with storytelling, and conference panels on the subject lately have fewer empty seats than a Bieber concert.

"Funny thing is, storytelling has been the buzzword off and on since advertising became a thing. It's always coming out of the buzzword pile because, at the end of the day, it's a timeless skill. Stories have been an essential driver of change throughout human history. For good and for ill.

"And now more than ever, businesses, workers, and leaders have opportunities to stand out, spread messages, and make change through storytelling.

"Good stories surprise us. They have compelling characters. They make us think, make us feel. They stick in our minds and help us remember ideas and concepts in a way that numbers and text on a slide with a bar graph don't."

Top Tech Trends and People of 2012

Here is the textbook that I created/curated for teaching my New Media Technology class during the Spring semester of 2012 at Hannam University's Linton Global College. I took great effort to give credit where it is due. I aimed to show my students how they could access enough free info on the web that was of equal or greater value than the wonderful information found in expensive textbooks. Feel free to share and please support the true authors of this book in any way you can (money, likes, blog comments, links, etc.) I am simply the currator of this content.

25 Google+ tips and tricks

25 Google+ tips and tricks | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

Google+ unveiled itself to the public amidst a chorus of praise and adulation from techies all over the globe. Unfortunately, it also earned a good amount of scorn from individuals who were not ready to grasp the unique philosophy Google+ was promoting. That philosophy is one of openness.

Unlike Facebook, Google+ is designed to connect strangers, and inspire collaboration and contribution. It has proven to be an amazing platform for promoting ideas, brands and people.

Since its early rollout, Google+ has forced competitors to begin evolving, inspiring platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to develop new ways of thinking about social media and the functionality they offer.

7 Tips To Maximize Shares of Your Facebook Posts

7 Tips To Maximize Shares of Your Facebook Posts | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

Facebook recently changed the way users interact with content on fan pages: any user, including non-fans, can now post on fan page walls and like/comment/share fan page content. In other words, a Facebook user does not have to first like your fan page before they can interact with your content. This is a good thing!

Since this change, the emphasis has shifted slightly from gaining more likes (fans) to increasing the number of shares on each piece of content. When you craft your fan page updates in a manner that naturally inspires fans and their friends and visitors to your page to share with their networks, you set in motion ripples of viral visibility. Basically, free additional exposure...
