In less than thirty years, the Internet has become an indispensable guarantor of economic growth, social renewal and cultural enrichment. Quantifying its value is difficult because we still depend on economic models from an industrial age and think of the Web’s impact in terms of contributions to GDP. The studies collected here attempt to calculate how much the Internet is worth, but they are incomplete and demonstrate the need for new thinking if we are to understand - and harness - the full power of the Web....

Coming from a landlocked country myself (Kazakhstan), I was fascinated to participate in the 2nd UN Conference on landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) held in Austria this past November.

Excellent points made about the challenges land-locked developing countries face.  From an Internet access perspective - we see this as a  critical issue for countries that surround LLDCs to consider better arrangement for x-border connectivity.
