The world and the internet are full of sycophants and megalomaniacs. I get it, oh know not another cliche. No wait I get it. I have never read any one of Seth Godin’s books, but I admit after visiting his blog today,

Happy Friday everyone! I wanted to take a minute to pause to give thanks and to reflect. I am so happy to have made so many wonderful connections online. It amazes me how close intellectually I feel with so many wonderful people in the curation community, and I want to take a quick post to first say well Thank you! Thank you to all of the hard working content producers who produce amazing work, of with without we would have nothing to curate. I think we all understand how challenging it is to create amazing content day in and day out. You guys and gals make it look easy.

Risk offers a purpose. Death is a magnificent thing; it gives your life, and this very moment, a very special and unique meaning. With each day you’re closer to the end. Each moment is one that will never be had again. Death should give you reason to risk, to try, to persist. To live a life spent doing what you hate doing, is a life lived in hell. To risk nothing is to gain nothing.

Everyone remembers those giggly girls who always got into so much trouble in elementary school. Well, I was one of *those* girls. I would start giggling when a friend made a face or told a funny joke. And once I started, I kept giggling…and giggling…and giggling. Even when the teacher finally made me sit in the hallway until I could settle down – I’d still be giggling. Fast forward a few decades and guess what? The giggly girl has grown into a woman who still enjoys laughing, but knows when to stop. Usually.

These social media “title” posts crop up every couple months and they’re equally hilarious/ridiculous each time they pop up. Every day I see another ridiculous “title” and wonder how much time was spent (wasted) on such insanity.

A look at how Maersk's social media manager, operating solo, engages fans on 10 social networks without bottom-line sales or gimmicks. He just tells stories. When Jonathan Wichmann's boss at worldwide shipping company Maersk Line told him that the company was approaching a point of being ready to dive into social media a little more than a year ago, the two agreed that it would face some difficulties that companies that mainly communicate with the public might not. "You can't fake it," Wichmann says. Wichmann was a consultant for the company at the time. After joining Maersk full-time, Wichmann stepped up to handle everything virtually single-handedly. In the year since that initial meeting, the company has accrued 650,000 Facebook fans and won awards for the social media campaign of the year and best community presence at the European Digital Awards. Maersk pulled that off in such a short time with what Wichmann calls an "insourcing" approach....

It was a relatively quiet week for internet news until Guardian blogger Glenn Greenwald dropped a bombshell on Thursday, with a story that showed the National Security Agency was collecting data from Verizon thanks to a secret court order. But that was just the beginning: the Washington Post later revealed an even broader program of surveillance code-named PRISM, which involved data collection from the web’s largest players — including Google, Facebook and Apple — and then the Wall Street Journal said data is also being gathered from ISPs and credit-card companies.

Currently in the business world we are witnessing something like the epic collision of two galaxies — a rapid convergence of two very unlike systems that will cause the elements of both to realign. It’s all thanks to the Internet of Things. If you are not familiar with the term, the Internet of Things refers to a dramatic development in the internet’s function: the fact that, even more than among people, it now enables communication among physical objects. By 2015, according to my own firm’s projections, not only will 75 percent of the world’s population have access to the internet. So will some six billion devices. The fact that there will be a global system of interconnected computer networks, sensors, actuators, and devices all using the internet protocol holds so much potential to change our lives that it is often referred to as the internet’s next generation.

The "Le Soste" group was born in 1982 when a group of friends, all owners of high quality restaurants, met for dinner. Brought together by Gualtiero Marchesi at his restaurant of the same name in Milan, the founders were Antonio Santini of the Dal Pescatore Restaurant in Canneto sull'Oglio, Roberto Ferrari of the Al Bersagliere Restaurant in Goito, Gaetano Martini of the Il Cigno Restaurant in Mantova, Andreas Hallrigh of the restaurant Andrea in Merano and Rinaldo Krcivoj of the restaurant Antica Trattoria Boschetti in Tricesimo, later followed by Ezio Santini and other colleagues for a total of 18 people when the first guide was issued. They were inspired by the model of the great Gastronomic Associations, such as Traditions et Qualité and Relais Gourmands. The basic idea of this first group of restaurant owners was to meet periodically in order to exchange ideas and projects relevant to Italian high cuisine. In that way, they could let their clients know which restaurants shared their ideals of gastronomical culture, pleasures of the table, hospitality, kindness and elegance, which they considered the foundations of their work. Initially, there were 18 members, all Italians. Year after year, the number of restaurants increased greatly, both in Italy and abroad. Therefore, this year, “Le Soste” offers a selection of 75 restaurants located as follows: 62 in Italy;2 in Germany;1 in Luxemburg;1 in Monaco;6 in Switzerland;1 in the United States.MarcheLa Madonnina del PescatoreSymposium Quattro StagioniUliassi The Guide is issued every two years to offer all gourmets a precious vademecum of the best restaurants of Italian high cuisine.
