How This 27-Year-Old Made $1 Million Last Year

How This 27-Year-Old Made $1 Million Last Year | Internet Presence | Scoop.it
Four years ago, Michelle Schroeder-Gardner was almost $40,000 in debt. Now, she makes about $100,000 a month.

In December 2012, when Michelle Schroeder-Gardner graduated with an MBA, she had $38,000 in student loan debt.

She got a job as a financial analyst earning $50,000 a year (plus bonuses of about $12,500 annually), but she set a goal of paying off her debt within six months.

Though it took her one extra month, paying off a huge amount of debt in a short period of time set her on a path of financial over-achievement.

Since then, she has increased her income each year.

In 2013, excluding her salary from her full-time job, which she quit that year, she earned $117,000.

In 2014, that increased to $164,000.

In 2015, her earnings jumped to $321,000.

And last year, she made just shy of $1 million — $979,000, to be exact.

Plus, the 27-year-old is a digital nomad. She and her husband live in an RV, chasing 70-degree weather (they were in Arizona when we spoke in late January) and enjoying the views of a slew of national parks including Colorado National Monument, Mesa Verde, Rocky Mountain, Arches, Moab, and others. OneWeb raises $1.2B to offer satellite-based internet services as soon as 2019 | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

The battle for satellite-powered internet is heating up. Weeks after Tesla asked the U.S. Government for permission to launch a service powered by thousands of satellites above the Earth, rival project OneWeb has raised $1.2 billion in new funding to get things rolling as soon as 2019.

Networks are not likely to operational for most people for years, but the money is already flowing in large amounts. OneWeb has raised $500 million from a bevy of investors that include Airbus, Qualcomm, Virgin, Boeing and Coca Cola. This new financing is led by Japan’s SoftBank, which is cutting a $1 billion check for the company. Read more: click on image or title.

Which Colors to Avoid in Web Design – Web Design Tips & Tricks

Which Colors to Avoid in Web Design – Web Design Tips & Tricks | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

Colors are the heart of any advertisement that decides how successfully it will promote your brand, merchandise or services. The power of color schemes should not to be underestimated. If used creatively, even the simpliest colors can not only boost the ability to advertise but also improve the time a user spends on a website averagely.

However, choosing the wrong color schemes can be disastrous to say the least and can drown any product or service, regardless of how big it is or what it brings to the table. For example, some advertisers choose flashy colors to capture the attention of their target audience. Although they may succeed in getting the heads turn in their direction, the audience will lose interest in the long haul.

This eventually ends up damaging brand image and reputation of the business. In this article, we will cover which types of color schemes to avoid in online advertising. I’ve gathered a list of “NOT TOs” along with an alternative methods for you to try.... Read more: click image or title.

This is the time of year people post their prognostications for the next year. The predictions will be … predictable: More video! More Snapchat! More podcasts!

Well, OK. It’s pretty easy to make a prediction based on what’s already happening. But there are less obvious tectonic forces rumbling through our marketplace. Here’s a view of some of the underlying shifts, the marketing mega trends, you need be considering in 2017:

1. Content Marketing Re-constructed

4 Effective Ways to Build Backlinks for a Brand New Site

4 Effective Ways to Build Backlinks for a Brand New Site | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

Starting to build links for a new site is a lot like climbing a mountain.

You’re starting from ground zero with a lot of enthusiasm, but when you realize you have to climb for days to get anywhere, that enthusiasm often turns to the feeling of being overwhelmed.

But when it comes to your site, the weather conditions, metaphorically speaking, are terrible as well.

No one can see you from above, so they can’t help you out—you are on your own.

That already rules out certain link building (climbing) strategies.

This fact is nothing new.

But the advice for new site owners is outdated and just plain bad in some cases.

I recently saw multiple guides that advised building (and paying for) directory links and social media bookmarks.

That kind of stuff was useful over five years ago, but today, it is a waste of your time and money—resources that could be spent building links that will help you get immediate traffic and long-term search rankings. Read more: click image or title.

Become An Author: How to Self-Publish a Book in 7 Easy Steps

Become An Author: How to Self-Publish a Book in 7 Easy Steps | Internet Presence | Scoop.it
Become an author in 7 easy steps. Making a full time income from writing is a simple process once you know what to do. Follow these steps and get started!

200 Million Americans Want to Become an Author!

But can just anyone write and publish a book?

The answer is YES, and everyone should start RIGHT NOW!

EVERYONE has a unique story or special skill to share with the world. And publishing a book has never been easier (or more profitable).

A 2014 survey from Mark Coker, founder of e-book distributor Smashwords, found that indie authors were earning over 40% of all dollars going to authors.  And that was in 2014. Since then the self-published genre has exploded!

Unfortunately, few people will ever become an author. This is sad because they will miss out on sharing their talents with the world. Think of all the connections, opportunities, and positive influence you could have if you wrote a book.

Maybe you have always had a great idea for a crime novel or a special trick you use to motivate yourself at work. Your skills, ideas, and experiences make you uniquely qualified to help others. Writing a book is a fantastic way to make a huge impact on a large number of people.

Like most people you might say to yourself, “But who am I to write a book? Who would even listen to what I have to say?”

I know I used to think the same thing. For years I wanted to become an author. I had so many ideas that I wanted to share but I was scared. I had no idea where to begin.

Proper Etiquette 101: How To Send A Direct Message On Twitter - Get More Twitter Followers Boost your Twitter Marketing

Proper Etiquette 101: How To Send A Direct Message On Twitter - Get More Twitter Followers Boost your Twitter Marketing | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

If you look at them at all, chances are that you’ve noticed that Twitter removed the 140-character limit on its direct message feature recently (August 12 to be exact).

The change was made, according to Twitter, to make the “private side of Twitter even more powerful and fun.”

It was definitely a welcome change for many.

I mean, have you ever successfully had a REAL conversation with someone over DM WITHOUT having to send multiple messages because you hit a wall at 140 characters?

Unfortunately, if you give some people an inch they’ll take a mile.

I had a recent conversation with someone and noticed that the messages, sent about one a day, were being BURIED by the many messages that said something to the effect of, “Thank you for following me. For more information about ME…”

I’ve always found these messages to be frustrating, but she pointed out that they seem to be worse now that the character limit has been expanded (and we were forced to take our conversation to email, instead).

The question is: is it even okay to send direct messages?

4 Simple Ways to 10x Your Content and Drive More Traffic

4 Simple Ways to 10x Your Content and Drive More Traffic | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

If you want to create content that hits page one and quickly drive more traffic to your site, it must be at least 10 times the value of anything else.

The process of creating content for your website in hopes of attracting a wave of traffic has changed in recent years.

In the past you’d be able to throw up a simple 500-word article onto your blog and get a stream of traffic. As long as it provided some semblance of value and had a few keywords thrown in, it was good enough. Ah the good ol’ days!

Try doing that today and watch that piece of content be buried on the 800th page of Google’s search results.

In today’s race to produce content that hits the front page of the Google search results, your content must be more than stellar. It must be AT LEAST 10 times the value anyone’s looking for if you want it to hit the front page of Google, attract traffic, shares, and mentions.

In this article I want to share with you 4 dead simple ways you can 10X the content you’re producing to drive more traffic. Read more: click image or title.

How to create an online portfolio to showcase your career highlights with visuals even if you're not a graphic designer or visual artist.

If you think a personal website is only for designers, artists and creative types, think again. Anyone can have an online portfolio to showcase career highlights.

The Internet has become the go-to source to find whatever we are looking for. Searching for talent is no different. Conservatively, 51% of hiring professionals said they use the Internet to source and vet candidates, according to a 2015 study by CareerBuilder.

You have access to the same marketing strategies and tools businesses use–a website for starters. The concept of developing and promoting your personal brand started over a decade ago. You are already known for certain qualities and skills among those you’ve worked with. This is your personal brand. Why not promote that reputation of excellence? Now it is time to be more strategic in how you package and promote your reputation.
What will someone find if they search for your name online? That is what is known as your digital footprint. An online portfolio or personal website is one place online you can control the information someone will discover about you. Donald Trump’s Ridiculous Brexit Tweet Is Getting Some Amazing Replies

Donald Trump’s Ridiculous Brexit Tweet Is Getting Some Amazing Replies | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

After the surprising results of the ‘Brexit’ results out of the U.K., a very not surprising thing occurred on Twitter: Donald Trump posted something ridiculous.

There are many things that make his comment silly (like the potentially devastating effects on the global economy), but it’s the reference to Scotland’s supposed rejoicing the vote that’s got tweeters across the pond in such a tizzie. Apparently, nobody told Trump that Scotland actually voted 62% to 38% to remain in the European Union. Here are some of Twitter’s most brilliant (and very British) responses to the presumptive Republican nominee.

Use Public Wifi? Here’s Why Snooping On You is Way Easier Than You Think

Use Public Wifi? Here’s Why Snooping On You is Way Easier Than You Think | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

Hacking is so easy these days, even non-hackers can do it. Some kinds of hacking, that is.

Like public wifi, for example. To spy on people’s Internet browsing while they’re sipping a cup of brew, you don’t need to be a pro. Thanks to freely available online software, you barely need to know anything about coding.

I tell you this not to encourage you to start snooping around at coffee shops and airports. But so you’ll be better aware of the need to protect yourself against shady characters that do that sort of thing. Because the barrier to entry is not high.

In the same way that tools like Blogger and WordPress made it easy for anyone to have a good-looking blog without knowing a stitch of code, freely downloadable “sniffing” software has made it easy for anyone to be able to hack into someone’s wifi session and see what they’re surfing.

These software tools are actually meant for IT administrators to troubleshoot network problems. But like everything, they can be used for good or for evil. Read more: click image or title.

It works great, many servers all over the world, includes speed tests to find the fastest one for you, and wonderful customer service. One fee includes several devices.

6 Hidden iMovie Features for Better Instructional Videos

However, producing quality video still requires a certain level of skill and creativity … and creating a well designed and produced instructional video is a daunting task. Whether you’re an educator creating tutorials or a student demonstrating your knowledge of a subject, it’s important to create video that communicates your message effectively. Adding some subtle transitions, titles and credits is a nice start but if you’re using an app such as iMovie on your iPad then there are several lesser-known features that will improve the quality of your final product.

(Note that both the video and notes below refer to the iOS version of iMovie but the same features can also be used in other versions of iMovie).  Read more: click image or title.
