Content Marketing Trends Your Business Should Implement

Content Marketing Trends Your Business Should Implement | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

Through proper content marketing, businesses can build their brand, raise awareness, and engender trust. This type of marketing positions businesses as credible and reliable information sources. Sharing and promoting content related to your particular industry attracts people to your social media and digital platforms as well as your product lines.

With so many potential benefits from content marketing, here’s a look at the trends that your business should consider implementing:

“Director of Content” is the new highly recruited marketing title

The person in this critical role helps coordinate sales and marketing activities to ensure both departments are working toward the same goals. In addition, this leader provides a vision and helps the business incorporate the best content marketing strategies, including webinars, videos and guest blog posts.

By shaping strategies and overseeing execution, the content director ensures messaging remains focused and on brand. Whoever holds this role needs to have a well-rounded approach to creating, managing and distributing content across multiple platforms to reach as many people in the company’s target audience as possible.

Mobile optimization is crucial

A 2014 report from the Pew Research Center Internet Project reveals 90 perent of Americans over the age of 18 have cellphones and nearly 60 percent have smartphones. Approximately half of all adults in the United States own a tablet.

With such impressive penetration, it’s not surprising that a separate report from financial giant Morgan Stanley predicts mobile Web usage will exceed laptop Web browsing by 2015. As smartphones are becoming cheaper, the study results illustrate the absolute necessity of content marketing on mobile devices.

Whether you’re creating email newsletters, white papers, or podcasts, optimize the content for mobile devices. Failing to take this step means you might not reach a large part of your target audience.

Videos need to play properly on smartphones and tablets. Webinars need to enable people to join on the go. Thinking about mobile now ensures your company won’t fall behind the curve in the coming months.

The evolution of the guest video post

Many companies are hip to the opportunities that come from having one of their leaders write guest blog posts and bylined articles for industry publications. Imagine, however, the bang you could get from doing a guest video post.

Guest bloggers can easily create engaging, high-quality videos that will inform and educate on a variety of essential topics. Videos allow guests to show, not just tell, so the company will receive a more compelling piece from their guests.

With studies reporting videos as the new way to reach a mass audience, the evolution of guest videos is upon us.

Engaging industry influencers

Don’t think that you have to create all content in-house. Work with industry influencers who have respected voices, and ask them to develop content your company can distribute.

For example, you might ask a well-known consultant to write a review of your newest product. While you won’t have the kind of control over the content you’d have if you used someone inside your company, you do gain greater credibility and trust through working with a professional outside your firm.

Another possibility is having someone in your marketing communications department do an audio or video interview with the influencer. Edit and package the content for distribution on social media and your company’s website. Then, ask the influencer to share with his or her followers.

Develop a one-stop shop

Some companies enjoy success by developing a one-stop online resource where visitors can educate themselves on issues and topics relevant to your industry.

One approach is to use a university model in which you offer online courses, instructional modules, and self-test tools. Content packaged to teach your customers things they want to learn is highly effective at drawing in visitors and getting them to engage with your site.

Create a check-list to ensure you’re contributing the most helpful information for your viewers. Does your site have extremely high-quality content? Does your company practice data curating to get the most up-to-date, comprehensive information available? It may be time to start!

Try custom-content feeds that give viewers access to a variety of content like social media RSS. Another option is to recruit influencers to contribute to your site. Have a leader in the field post a blog, or take the time to interview one of the most successful people in the field and post the video online.

Utilize Google+ and SlideShare

Move over, Facebook! New social media sites are pushing the envelope for B2B content marketers. With new technologies from Google bursting at the seams every year, there is no doubt that Google+ is innovating a whole new network of social sharing.

Many people are taking up Google+ to disseminate content marketing information for their companies. Professionals are connecting with their work, while also sharing personal articles and photos with family and friends.

SlideShare will also be a key contributor in content sharing. With the ability to create presentations and share them easily with groups, this trend has B2B marketers working hard to create vivid and engaging content.

With all of these new trends, it’s easy to say that content marketing is growing rapidly. The industry is experiencing new advancements every year, which is sure to provide more insight on what is producing ROI for all companies utilizing it.

As businesses face drastic drops in the organic reach of their Facebook posts, there are no doubt some shifting focus over to Google+. With recent reports, who could blame them? Forrester says marketers need to be using it. Shareaholic says it’s much better than Facebook for post-click engagement (as is YouTube, which is connected). Have you seen success with Google+? Are you looking into it more now that Facebook organic reach is dropping?

What does it take to do well on Google+? Well, Amanda Blain is someone who has a pretty good idea. She’s currently number 20 on the list of the top 100 Google+ profiles. In terms of followers, she’s ahead of celebrities like Shakira, 50 Cent, and Paris Hilton. She knows what she’s doing, and if you want to gain a significant presence on Google’s social layer, you’d do well to listen to what she has to say. So, that’s what we did, and we’re sharing it with you.

A Playbook for anyone looking to Hangouts for marketing and business
+David Amerland 's newest book, Google+ Hangouts for Business, is a playbook for companies looking at Hangouts technology for marketing. I say "playbook" because David takes a broad, multifaceted technology (Hangouts) and distills it into three sections:

1) The technology itself
2) The business case for Hangouts
3) Technical and Strategic implementation

As a HOA host (+GPLUSSPOTLIGHT, Wednesdays, 12:30pm ET), the systematic approach to building brand authority, marketing, collaboration...all of it, resonated with me on so many levels, it was empowering.

This is a must-read for any hangouts on air host, as well as businesses looking to Hangouts technology for collaboration, marketing, and relationship building. Job well done, David.

How to Link to a Google Plus Post

How to Link to a Google Plus Post | Internet Presence | Scoop.it
If you've ever wanted to share a Google+ Post with someone, to other social networks perhaps, or just wanted to bookmark it for later reading, here's how to link to a Google+ Post.

Have you ever found or shared some really great information to Google+ and wanted to send someone else directly to that post? Or maybe you're interested in bookmarking the post for later so that you can reference it or read it another time. Either way, you need to be able to find the link to that post and perhaps open it in it's own tab. While it's pretty easy to do, it's not exactly obvious just by looking at a post in your stream or on your wall.

Scheduling Google+ Posts, The Complete Guide

Scheduling Google+ Posts, The Complete Guide | Internet Presence | Scoop.it
Whether for your personal profile or your brand page, the desire and question of how to schedule Google Plus posts is one that comes up daily, yet the answers aren't obvious. Here are ALL of your options.

First, can we all agree that not everyone uses Social Media the same way? Some of us are on Facebook and Twitter and Google+ just to have fun, while others are there for specific purposes, like establishing a brand. And within those segments, there are still countless ways to utilize the platforms, from consuming to creating to communicating to curating and more.

But another general idea that I think we can all agree on is that sometimes, nearly all of us will have a need to be able to schedule our activity on the network. Perhaps as an individual, you’ve found 2 - 3 or more articles you want to share, but you don’t want to spam them all out at the same time. Or perhaps as a business, you have time early in the morning to get online and create some social media activity for your brand, but want to make sure that your message goes out when it’s better for your actual audience.

How to Schedule Google+ Posts, The Complete Guide

Scheduling posts and activity to Google+ is one of the most common questions, probably because everyone wants to be able to do it at one time or another, and of course Google+ offers no such option built-in.

But to complicate matters more, the array of third-party tools that are available aren't all the same. Essentially, some support personal profiles, while others only support brand pages.

While there isn't yet a single tool to rule them all, I can offer you a complete comparison of the free tools and techniques, some additional paid social media management tools that make for great options, and even debunk a few myths and legends that really don't work at all.

Matt then answered if Google does special crawling or indexing for these sites, such as indexing the number of likes or tweets a specific page has. Matt said Google does not do that right now. Why?

10 Top Google Plus Tools for Digital Marketers

10 Top Google Plus Tools for Digital Marketers | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

Google+ is making waves in social media. So what are some powerful Google Plus tools that should be added to your social media marketing toolbox to improve your effectiveness?

Google+ is the love child of search and social.

When Google realized that Facebook wasn’t an aberration, anomaly or an afterthought it made its move. It created a social network that glued all its online assets together, collected social data and added social signals to its search algorithms. That glue cost them over half a billion dollars to design and develop. Google+ emerged from the Google lab womb with serious intentions.

To stop Facebook having all the fun, fame and fortune.

It collected demographic data that would allow them to target users with search ads that were user relevant. That’s called personalization. Others call it an invasion of privacy.

It’s the synergy of social networks and search engines that makes users salivate with information that informs and inspires them.

Google+ is about data

To create a Google plus account you needed to tell them your age, location, email account and other data that revealed your likes and dislikes. We also live in a digital data age that empowers us to express, publish and share. That reveals who we are and Google can use that to increase revenue and improve user experience.

Nothing is for free.

Social networks need a supporting ecosystem

Social media has grown rapidly because the online global community has provided the audience, the tools and the ecosystem that feeds the social media beast. The beast needs daily multi-media content to discover, wrangle and curate for its attendant audience.

To make sense of the data and allow brands to manage what could be described as extreme cat herding, you need social media management platforms.

Social media management platforms

When social media emerged from the web primal mist it was raw and wild. Smart and savvy entrepreneurs saw an opportunity. Social media needed platforms for creating, managing and measuring the mayhem and buzz.

Facebook with its longer history has many supporting platforms. Google+ is just starting to partner with providers that help it grow its community to add value to its users.

Some of the third party partner platforms for Google+ include the following five social media management platform tools.

How Google Plus Profiles & Pages Gain Search Authority | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

Increasing Visibility & Influence In Google Search

That means that anyone who wants to make use of Google+ as part of an overall strategy of increasing visibility and influence in Google Search should be actively pursuing all of the following tactics:

- Build a strong network within Google+. You should seek to cultivate not just a large number of followers, but more importantly, active relationships and partnerships with influential Google+ users. Their citations to your profile have a powerful effect on its authority to Google.

 - Cultivate quality links from trusted websites. Create the kind of presence on Google+ that site owners want to recommend and link to. When being interviewed or referenced by a site, ask if they would link to your Google+ profile or page for identity purposes.

 - Use Google Authorship for your content across the Web. Although this tip applies only to personal profiles, since Google Authorship involves a legitimate, Google-approved link to our profile, the more quality content you produce on trusted sites, the more authority given to your profile.

This is a very personalable story. Rick makes some excellent points. We all have to start small, and focus our efforts there. Doing it with Google+ is a great idea.
