Great list mostly new to me. Missing one of my favorite visual marketing tools Haiku Deck: http://haikudeck.com/ . Haiku Deck is much more than a simple UI on the Creative Commons. If you are SMART you will use Haiku and some of these other #cooltools to create the kind of arresting visual marketing we all need and aspire to daily.

14 Google Tools You Didn't Know Existed | Internet Presence | Scoop.it
From the Ngram Viewer to Google Dart, check out some of these lesser-known Google applications.
1. Google Ngram Viewer

Google's Ngram Viewer lets you search keywords in millions of books over the span of half a millennium, a useful tool for finding trends over time. For power users, the Ngram Viewer also has advanced options, such as searching for particular keywords as specific parts of speech or combining keywords. Just in case you ever wanted to see how big cocaine was in Victorian times, now you can.

Tweek your website using these guidelines:

  • "Care about your visitors and their needs.
  • Be Yourself
  • Don't be the mysterious "we"
  • Keep it simple
  • It's all about your loyal customers.

For each tip, see the section "How can you do it?"

Ally Greer's curator insight, June 27, 2013 3:34 PM

Your website is your first impression. No questions asked.

How do you turn casual browsers into loyal customers who rave about you to their social circles?

-Keep it simple (there's one I bet you've never heard before ;)). What is the four word story that you want your viewers to see, process, and remember? Integrate this into your site in any way you possibly can, and make sure it's consistent across the board.

- Down with the "royal we!" If you have a team, introduce them. If you don't, introduce yourself. And by introduce, I don't mean a zombie bio. I mean a photo, a little bit about what you do, and a few things about yourself as a person as well. Getting to know you and what you're about helps current and potential customers feel that much more connected to you and, in turn, your brand.

How to launch a startup without knowing a line of code

How to launch a startup without knowing a line of code | Internet Presence | Scoop.it

There is an unspoken rule: to launch a startup, you need to build a product, and to do that you need someone that can write code.

Whether that means chasing down a technical co-founder, learning to code, or even building that “Lean MVP” – the conventional wisdom is that without tech abilities you’re nothing more than a dude (or dudette) with a Powerpoint.

A growing number of startups, however, are quietly disproving this assumption.

They’re getting their first customers with minimal technology, and often no code at all. Instead of building fancy technology from the outset, they’re hacking together inexpensive online tools such as online forms, drag-and-drop site builders, advanced WordPress plugins, and eCommerce providers.

They’re jumping right in to serve customers in any way possible – heading right for their first paying customers.

Most importantly, unlike the majority of their peers, by the time they start building a product, they already have a humming business.

How are they doing it?

Marc Kneepkens's insight:

It's become fashionable to create Startups and use Developers. But anyone can start a business online, there are too many good tools around, and not only WordPress as the article suggests.

I built my site with SBI/Sitesell, and am very happy to see hundreds of visitors every day checking on funding information. SBI has many, many tools, all integrated in one package at $29.90/month or $299.00/year, less than a dollar a day. Take a look:http://www.sitesell.com/welcome23.html
