"The UK content marketing industry is growing fast. By next year it will expand by 10 per cent and be worth more than £1bn." As part of our re-launch from APA to the Content Marketing Association (CMA), this infographic, with new research, shows you exactly why. I missed this when it came out last month, but it has some very good stats about how content marketing is a win-win for brands. For example: 170 is the amount of brands the average person interacts with on a typical journey to work 27% of consumers are more likely to purchase from a website if it offers editorial content. By 2013, digital content marketing is due to take over from print... At last!

Excerpted from article: "Rich Snippets are the content summaries that accompany Google search results for your webpages when they pop up in the main listings. Rich Snippets are incredibly important when it comes to ranking your content well in the new era that’s been wrought by Google’s Penguin update. If you really want to wrap your head around Rich Snippets and dive in with both feet, Schema.org is the best place to get started. Ultimately, Rich Snippets are based on microdata, microformats, RDFa, and similar standards. All of these schemas are included within the HTML5 specification, which makes them easy to integrate into your websites. Both Google and Bing take these microformats and behind-the-scenes data structures into account when deciding how they’ll rank content. To make your web properties more appealing to the search engines, the first thing you should do is head over to the Google-sponsored Rich Snippets Testing Tool to do some research. Simply enter the URL of the page you’re focusing on and see the results roll in. The RSTT will analyse your content and suggest ways in which you can improve your pages to rank better using RDFa and microformat techniques. Once you’ve gotten some feedback, you can start to modify back-end markup to address the problems you find. Tweaking markup is critical, because Google will look at how you semantically structure your layouts when deciding how to present a summation of your website in its results..." Industry observers and analysts have been predicting that mobile commerce would have a bright future for nearly a decade, but it wasn't until recently that those predictions started to look like they might be accurate, if still poorly timed.

The aptly named world wide web has opened up new methods of marketing for businesses both great and small. The benefits of localizing company websites to target foreign markets are now widely recognized (Common Sense Advisory studies suggest an average return of US$25 for every $1 spent on localization) and many businesses now use social media platforms for domestic marketing, but very few appear to be using those platforms to promote their services abroad. For example, Econsultancy’s 2010 Social Media and Online PR Report reported that 83% of marketers were planning to increase their spending on social media this year, yet only 26% had plans to run campaigns in more than one country. Robin Good: If you are looking for great examples of Facebook marketing at work, you may want to check the Facebook Studio, an official gallery/catalog of marketing campaigns using FB. "...a place where creative agencies and marketers can deposit examples of great campaigns that leverages on the online social network to connect with audiences and have authentic conversations.
So far Facebook Studio has over 750 examples submitted and approved from around the world, and Facebook also holds the Facebook Studio Awards every year to recognize and laud the best work in the field. Agencies can create an online profile on Facebook Studio that shows off their creative digital work, along with any of the awards accorded by Facebook. These profiles go into a directory which is searchable and accessible, so you can preview the work. Creatives who have worked on those projects or campaigns can be “tagged”, so people know who’s been involved in them. Creative individuals can also build their own profiles – which is separate from their regular Facebook profile (although they can be linked) – so that they can be tied to the work they’re involved in." When the first version of HTML5 published in 2008, it raised more questions than it answered. Would it be a force of unification or division? Would content producers, browser programmers and device manufacturers agree to new standards? And would it finally solve issues related to multi-platform development?
