A critical review of Social media from 2008 to today.

A critical review of Social media from 2008 to today. | Internet Hotel Marketing | Scoop.it

What happened to the authenticity that was promised in the social media? Years of tactics to accumulate meaningless fans and worthless conversations have left no one, not consumers, brands or marketers, better off. ...

The brands that succeed in social media do not take short cuts; they put their nose to the grindstone, focus on their customers and build their social footprints slowly but steadily. Authenticity cannot be bought, nor is it earned with a click of the "like" button. Authentic relationships and authentic conversations matter, and those are still earned the old-fashioned way--with care, shared values and hard work.

WIHPhotel's insight:

Following our article about fusion hotel and their success with social media, we should we'd bring forward another review. This one is more critical and takes an interesting slant.

Andrew Kraemer's curator insight, May 16, 7:29 AM

In my humble opinion, the question of managing a proprietary technology system versus managing a technology vendor that provides the same service is answered by understanding who you are more comfortable managing -- a product or a vendor.

Is the future of hotels independent? Pandox thinks so. | Internet Hotel Marketing | Scoop.it

BERLIN—Representatives from across the hotel operating landscape engaged in a heated discourse Monday during an opening session of the 16th International Hotel Investment Forum. At question was the value of brands—or the lack thereof—as global chains exit out of the ownership business and transition toward asset light.

Anders Nissen of Pandox is rather outspoken and claims that removing brands and using OTAs would be cheaper for him than paying for brands who rely on OTAs... a heated discussion in Berlin.

Six myths about SEO hoteliers are still believing

Six myths about SEO hoteliers are still believing | Internet Hotel Marketing | Scoop.it
Last week I took an informal survey and asked a group of hoteliers we work with what the top SEO questions they often hear.
WIHPhotel's insight:

While many still try to sell SEO as a secret sauce for hotel marketing, others have realized that hotel SEO isn't magic, it's common sense.

Igor Tishkin's curator insight, May 1, 11:11 AM
