The Key to Creating Content that Resonates with Your Audience | Copyblogger

The Key to Creating Content that Resonates with Your Audience | Copyblogger | Internet Entrepreneurship Tips to Make Money Online | Scoop.it

Excerpted from article by Copyblogger:

"One job you have as a content marketer is to think of your reader as a tuning fork. You need to publish great content in order to create resonance with that reader — to get that person to emit a particular tone that gets them to know, like, and trust you.

Let’s look at some tips on resonance, and how to build harmony with your readers.

Seth Godin is a master at creating that “in tune” feeling with his readers. His posts makes his readers virtually vibrate with harmony — they strike a chord. As readers, we believe what Seth is saying is correct, and that makes us want to read more and buy his products.

Don’t assume that a post has to be about a positive topic in order to create harmony.

You don’t need to talk about unicorns and rainbows in every piece that you write. Sometimes you can get people to agree with you by giving a piece of difficult-to-hear (but crucially important) advice.

Try being:

- Specific — Each article should be simple and direct, no matter what length it is.

- Useful — Useful stuff is memorable, and it resonates with your audience.

- Brave — Don’t be afraid to say the things no one else is saying. if you’re out in front of the rest of the pack, you could be talking about something everyone else is afraid to talk about.

- Emotional — Good content gets us worked up. It stirs up emotion, whether that feeling is wonder, awe, happiness, sadness or anger.

Maria Popova, Chris Brogan, and Neil Patel are writers who are masters at creating resonance and harmony with their readers.

Whether you’re aware of it or not, your favorite bloggers are creating harmony with you every time they write a great post. It’s one of the main reasons you love them.

They are listening to your needs and desires, and they are agile."

Great advice. For tourism and hospitality practitioners, it is so important to be sensitive to the traveler's experience, where they are in their travel cycle and offering specific value for them that is accessible.

Mike Ellsworth's curator insight, March 29, 9:16 PM

It's not often that you see the advice to be emotional in your content. But, folks, it's *social* media, after all. You need to Be a Person (the name of our book series http://bit.ly/OrderBeAPerson ) to make that connection with your readers.

12 Valuable Tips for Video SEO Beginners

12 Valuable Tips for Video SEO Beginners | Internet Entrepreneurship Tips to Make Money Online | Scoop.it

Excerpted from article on Search Engine Watch:

"If you aren't optimizing your videos to match what people are searching, your videos are likely to get lost and not reach their intended audience. Without reaching their intended audience, they serve no purpose.

Use the following 12 valuable tips to get your video to reach the first page of Google and YouTube, but most importantly build visibility to a large niche audience that is interested in what you have to offer.

1. Content Quality Check:
Ensure your videos are relevant, informative, and rich with content. Don't waste time producing videos that have nothing to do with your brand or service.

2. Title:
Capture the potential viewer's attention with a catchy title that contains related key phrases that are relevant to your brand or service.

3. Tags:
Optimize your video with important key phrases or keywords. Don't use complicated words or terminology that may not be common to the average person.

4. Description:
Optimize your video's description with relevant keywords and include a keyword-rich description of your video to allow search engines to index it and rank it higher, and for users to better understand your video before viewing.

5. Links:
Use video as a portal to other content on your site. Upload a couple of videos to portals like YouTube and Vimeo, and consider providing links back to related content and other relevant videos on your site.

6. Transcripts:
Provide transcripts of your videos. Good old HTML content is still a favorite with search engines.

7. Length:
Keep your video at five minutes or less. The average amount of time a user spends on a YouTube video is around 1 minute 30 seconds.
If you have video content that is of long duration, consider breaking it up into smaller pieces and tagging each accordingly, to be more appealing to the viewer.

8. Video Sitemaps:
Submit a video sitemap to Google to make sure that the search engine spiders can find your video content and index it accordingly. This is the easiest way for search engines to find your video content.

9. Branding:
As video is a great way to generate brand awareness with prospects, take advantage of this opportunity to incorporate your brand and logos into your videos.

10. Embedding Options:
Help your video go viral. Allow other users access to the coding that will allow them to embed your video on their website or blog. This can help gain valuable back links and shares that will boost your rankings in search engines.

11. Syndication:
Submit your video to RSS feeds and syndicate your videos to drive exposure across various online platforms and to optimize your videos even more.

12. Share, Share, Share!
Get on your social networks, look through your email contacts, write on your blogs, and get the hype going..."

The Best Business Books Of 2012

The Best Business Books Of 2012 | Internet Entrepreneurship Tips to Make Money Online | Scoop.it
I'm usually one to shy away from "best of" and list-like posts, but 'tis the season (as they say). Beyond that, it was a great year for reading and there are some marvelous gems that came out this year. So, whether you're looking for some end-of-the-year insights and motivation, or if you still haven't grabbed a gift for a loved one, here are some page-turners...

Via Tocquigny
R Dilip Kumar's insight:

This is an amazing collection of books that is a must read for any entrepreneur.

Tocquigny's curator insight, December 14, 2012 5:52 PM

The Best Business Books of 2102.

  1. Makers - The New Industrial Revolution by Chris Anderson. Whenever I get asked, "so what's next?" I now have something to point those people to. Reading this book reminds me of the feelings of excitement I used to get when reading newspaper and magazine articles about the Internet in the early nineties.
  2. Quiet - The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. This one of those books that makes you stop, put it down and scream, "this is me! I'm more normal than I thought!" I wish I had this book in High School. I wish I would have had the emotional intelligence to truly understand it as well back then. It's a beautiful book about people who like to think, read and yes, be alone.
  3. The Art of the Pitch - Persuasion and Presentation Skills that Win Business by Peter Coughter. There are so many illuminating moments and stories about how to win business in the agency game. I loved this book and re-read it multiple times. Coughter's writing style is pointed and very funny.
  4. Damn Good Advice (For People with Talent!) - How To Unleash Your Creative Potential by America's Master Communicator by George LoisMad Men? That's tame compared to the life and times of George Lois. A true advertising renaissance man, this is a short book but filled with tons of great design that is diminished by the depth of content and life lessons. Thanks to George, I'm now unapologetic about wearing sneakers every day of my life. Thanks, George!
  5. Daring Greatly - How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brene Brown. Courage, vulnerability, shame and more. Business is becoming personal and, thanks to beautiful minds like Brene Brown, it's not only acceptable, but smart to bring those emotions into leadership. This is one magical book.
  6. Steal Like an Artist - 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon. You could read this book in 30 minutes. Sadly, most people probably did. The only way you'll truly benefit from this book is to leave it within arm's reach at all time and reference it whenever you're feeling stuck, frustrated or uninspired. There is gold within these pages.
  7. The Impact Equation - Are You Making Things Happen or Just Making Noise? by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith. With their follow-up to Trust Agents, my good friends, Chris Brogan and Julien Smith, are back. No, this isn't another social media book. It's a book about doing a lot more than tweeting and Facebooking... it's a book about creating impact. Here's the thing: it's not easy, it's hard work and most people will, sadly, read this, nod in agreement but not take action. Don't be one of those people.
  8. 11 Rules for Creating Value in the Social Era by Nilofer Merchant. I really thought I was done with books about social media and social business. It's not that I was down on them, but that I had read them all and felt like there was too much repetition. Then, I read Nilofer's book and realized that few have been able to synthesize this changing business environment in such a powerful way.
  9. The (Honest) Truth about Dishonesty - How We Lie to Everyone-Especially Ourselvesby Dan Ariely. Looking for a great book from one of the greatest thinkers out there? Grab this one. Dan Ariely is not only a world-famous Behavioral Economist, but an amazing storyteller.
  10. Likeonomics - The Unexpected Truth Behind Earning Trust, Influencing Behavior, and Inspiring Action by Rohit Bhargava. What makes people like a brand (or an individual) and not another? Tough question, but this book breaks it down... and it's fascinating.
