Internet 2013
Foreign and second language teachers exploring the web (first in 2012, now in 2013), mulling the integration of technology, musing on how that relates to language learning and teaching, plus our own professional development as educators.

Eliademy could be your solution when you are looking to offer a course online, or maybe even only when you want to support your in-class activities with an online environment.

Listening Plus – A Social Approach to Learning English Online

Listening Plus – A Social Approach to Learning English Online | Internet 2013 | Scoop.it

"Our work demonstrates that an LMS can be matched with Web 2.0 tools to enhance students’ production and enable them to collectively share their findings and their learning paths. Thus ownership, audience, and availability of resources are taken into another dimension not institutionally bound, but collectively appropriated by the students with the facilitative guidance of an e-tutor.

The five-week online EFL course Listening Plus, devised by teachers at Casa Thomas Jefferson, a Binational Center in Brasilia, Brazil, was designed with a student-centered approach in which oral comprehension and production were enhanced through individual work. It was also designed in order not to lose sight of the essential elements in an educational setting of interaction and the group’s sense of belonging."

How to participate in an open online course (suggestions from George Siemens)

Sound familiar?
"The first few weeks of an open online course are the most disorienting. As a learner, you approach the course with expectations that have been defined by previous learning experiences. You look for readings ... Let go of those expectations. An open online course is quite different. You create your own spaces of interaction ..."

A great quote!
"Each of the sensemaking artifacts produced by participants becomes a node in a growing learning and knowledge networks."
