"Local exports on the rise
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA) released new export data that shows merchandise exports from the San Diego-Carlsbad metropolitan area totaled a record $17.9 billion, an increase of 4 percent or $702 million from 2012 to 2013. This growth helped San Diego to remain a top metropolitan area for exports in 2013. Earlier this year, a local collaboration released a Global San Diego Export Plan in conjunction with the Brookings Institution. The plan serves as a road map to help local companies adopt a export-oriented, global mindset."
