This is a good blog to read if you are thinking about delving into social media as a tool in your classroom. Could be helpful for parents as well to assist in seeing the benefits this kid of interaction can provide.

Jeesue Hur's curator insight, March 27, 7:50 AM

This again shows insight on social media and in this article it asks the question "What will social media have impact on and will change the classroom?" The classrooms are already changing, but this gives a further view on what will happen in the future. Will social media become one of the most important technologies in five years time?

Two interesting perspectives of collaboration in the learning environment.  Contrary to what the article says, if you watch the second classroom video all the way to the end, there is a significant amount of collaboration involved in the pedagogy.

Ying Zhang's curator insight, March 14, 10:28 PM
Very comprehensive OCTALYSIS - Meaning, Empowerment, Social Influence, Unpredictablitiy, Avoidance, Scarcity, Ownership, Accomplishment. The way I understand ownership is that the learners take responsibility and have the right to decide and control what to learn and how/when to learn. They create the choices and realities for themselves. They have the power to prevent the powerful teachers to appropriate the instruction time to do things in a way that cares about teaching and learning.

Don't start with the technology. Yes, absolutely. And stop worrying about "innovating" for crying out loud. Focus on what your students do well and what you would like your students to be able to do, and then think about how to capitalize on current combined resources, skills, and competencies. PLAN and build from there. But be sure to plan.
