You have just had your kitchen completely re-fitted and you have decided that it’s time that your old kitchen table is put out to pasture. I would guess that the idea of a glass kitchen table wouldn’t have occurred to you…It certainly didn’t to me! The idea of getting a glass kitchen table seemed like an exciting and modern choice, but I wasn’t quite sure how durable, and more important, how safe a glass table in a kitchen would be. So, before I went shopping for a new table at a furniture store in Kent, I sat down and thought it through.
Glass is undoubtedly easier to clean than wood. I wouldn’t have to worry about people in the house not using coasters or spilling their food and drinks and leaving stains on the table. I could just wipe off their mess and the job is done! Glass table tops are low maintenance compared to their wooden counterparts. Condensation on glass does not cause the same troubles as on wood and it’s also a lot easier to find glass cleaning solutions to keep my kitchen table looking new.
The initial cost of getting a kitchen table top made of glass would not burn a hole in my pocket. Glass tables are much cheaper than wood, ceramic or marble tables, mainly because manufactures of glass tables, know that that the price of glass is relatively lower than other materials, and this is reflected in the purchase price.
Aside from the inexpensive initial cost, with a glass table I knew that I would save on cleaning and maintenance. All I would need is a glass cleaner and cloth. No more polishing or scrubbing to get red wine stains from wood.
The thought of the glass breaking crossed my mind more than once, it’s certainly a possibility but as everyone knows the type of glass used for making tables is much stronger compared to drinking glasses, mirrors, etc. All I have to do is make certain table that is made with safety glass…problem solved.
So off I go, looking for a furniture sale in Kent, knowing that I will pick a beautiful glass topped table for my shiny new kitchen.
