Seth Dixon's curator insight, December 8, 2013 8:39 AM

I found this image on social media from a great geography teacher (link to his site--looking for APHG group activities?  Try this).  This picture taken at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Memphis, TN shows an intrguing linguistic combination that I had never imagined before.  This is referred to as cultural syncretism, where two or more cultures or cultural traits combine together to make something new.  Globalization and migration are making more cultural combinations than we've ever seen before in this human mosaic we call home.

This was taken in Memphis, TN. I liked how it mixes the religion with the surrounding culture and dialect, really interesting and shows that people can have the same religion and different backgrounds.

This is a long overdue and meaningful change. Am very much looking forward to it.

John Michel's curator insight, May 27, 2013 10:36 AM

Organisations must also accommodate the different work attitudes and motivations of the generations, moving if necessary to a flatter organisational structure and providing opportunities for freer movement.

Deborah Long's curator insight, May 27, 2013 9:58 PM

An organizational shift and transition will occur in the work place as Generations X and Y inherit leadership roles once held by retiring Baby Boomers. Guided by a different set of values than Boomers, Gen X and Y will likely redefine leadership in years to come.

Narrated Slideshow – Screencast Tool Comparison

Narrated Slideshow – Screencast Tool Comparison | Intercultural competency | Scoop.it

A screencast is a digital recording of a computer screen with audio narration. Screencasts can include telestrator (‘John Madden pen’) annotations. Narrated slideshows include audio recordings synchronized to images without hand-drawn annotations.

Screencasts and narrated slideshows can be created with two kinds of tools:

1. Browser-based: Create an account on the website and use a modern web browser like Google Chrome or FireFox to record, save and share it.

2. Client-based: Download and install software on a computing device to record and save.
