Harnessing Collective Intelligence with Games 2012

"With recent advances in harnessing the knowledge and skill of large groups of (unknown) network-connected humans, researchers and practitioners have been designing systems that make contributions of users entertaining and more engaging. Game mechanics are being applied to the traditional human computation tasks, such as transcription, classification and labeling. Seminal examples of such applications include ESP game and FoldIt. At the same time, companies seek strategies to include elements of gaming into business processes to increase productivity and engagement of employees. Framing a business goal in the form of a game is also a promising method for motivating newer generations in the workforce."

Building a global brain to solve sustainability puzzles | Intelligences collectives | Scoop.it
To solve the world's toughest problems, we may need a mind meld. Make that a mind-and-computer meld.
Or, as everyone else calls it, collective intelligence. The idea of pooling minds and resources holds great promise for sustainability, O'Reilly Media founder and CEO Tim O'Reilly said Thursday at GreenBiz's VERGE DC conference.

LA COURSE A L'INTELLIGENCE | Intelligences collectives | Scoop.it

Co-Creation & Collective Intelligence: Why combining co-creation and collective intelligence?

Co-Creation & Collective Intelligence: Why combining co-creation and collective intelligence? | Intelligences collectives | Scoop.it

" Co-creating and collective intelligence/wisdom are forming a hybrid forces, a calling to reclaim the participation of people in groups as positive, useful, healing, life affirming. We alter the way that we see the world in order to solve problems together.
It is a fact that humans today love to participate in problem-solving online, to have a voice and to express themselves, to be a part of the story-telling of new media, and to be a part of the collective intelligence process. The cultural, economic and political changes brought on by online intelligence sharing, via different media, have been truly amazing and reflect extraordinary cultural shifts in the 21st century. There is a huge opportunity out of there, people feel right to collaborate to solve higher issues, higher order of problems or matters."

collective learning examples | littlebylittlejohn.com

"Collective learning is fundamentally a type of learning that happens ‘in the real world’. There are lots of examples from industry so we (Anoush Margaryan, Collin Milligan, Lou McGill and I) collated together some examples below. Most of these examples are from industry. However there are examples from formal education. For example there are instances of teaching and learning in universities using real world datasets (case 3). There are also examples of blurring the boundaries between education and work through large scale, authentic tasks involving learner groups in teams with employees in the workplace (case 6). We plan to build this bank of examples by adding your examples and ideas."

Data mining 3.0 - from info to 'collective intelligence' | Intelligences collectives | Scoop.it

An EU-funded project has developed a platform that converts vast user-generated content from a problem of information overload into a new, collective intelligence with a range of applications, from handling emergencies to enhanced city tourism. The project has filed for several patents and a handful of products and results are destined for public or commercial release. Is this the beginning of data mining 3.0?

The Power of Really Smart Crowds - Forbes

The Power of Really Smart Crowds - Forbes | Intelligences collectives | Scoop.it
The term “crowdsourcing” often conjures up the image of a guy or gal in terrycloth bathrobe at computer doing simple, perhaps somewhat creative tasks over and over again. There’s power in the crowd, by virtue of it being a big crowd, but this isn’t high science. Until now.

Anthony Goldbloom, who we featured on our recently launched 30 Under 30 list, is harnessing what might just be the best and the brightest minds in a grand crowdsourcing experiment. He is aiming to get people to answer some of the more complex riddles in academia and big companies.
