Want to be a better storyteller?  — ooomf labs — Medium

I started writing regularly a few months ago and I’m constantly trying to improve.
Darin Stevenson's insight:

This is real genius. Integration, observation... tactically opportunistic forensic intelligence. The same skills that serve her are generlizable to a wide variety of ‘leadership’ domains, where the leadership has to do with intelligently organizing and fulfilling the developmental powers of the participants and the nominal leader... in a self-amplifying process that produces ... mutual superfuction and developmental explosions of unexpected (r)evolutionary insight and progress.

Teens aren’t abandoning “social.” They’re just using the word correctly. — Understandings & Epiphanies — Medium

Advertisers are perplexed and a little angst-y.

I know this, because I work in advertising.
Darin Stevenson's insight:

What this means is that teens are demonstrating a mode of intelligence that the adults »cannot muster.

And more: they know the difference between cohesion and being separated into little packs of diseases. How do they know?

Because that is what we do to them all day, every day.

Social media: We are doing it WRONG.

“Social” is what happens when someone posts personal information—photos, thoughts, announcements, favorite songs, jokes—on the internet and another person comes along and clicks a thumbs up icon or a star or a heart. If someone’s really “social,” they’ll even type a comment or reply.

Kids aren’t leaving social networks. They’re redefining the word “social.” Rather, they’re actually using the word with the intent of its original meaning: making contact with other human beings. Communicating. Back-and-forth, fairly immediate dialogue. Most of it digitally. But most of it with the intent of a conversation where two (or more) people are exchanging information and emotion. Not posting it. Exchanging it.”

AboveTopSecret.com - Conspiracy Theories, UFOs, Paranormal, Politcs, and other "alternative topics" - home page for Saturday, December 28, 2013 | Intelligence | Scoop.it
Darin Stevenson's insight:

I study the origins of consciousness and intelligence. Human conscious evolution. Anomalism is a hotbed of confused humans trading bizarre theories, most of which they purchased at bookstores. On the other hand, it is an amazing resource for both studying the nature of our confusion and excitement about the unknown... and a treasure-trove of overlooked opportunities for discovery, insight, and transformation. But you need a strong filter, and a nonhuman intelligence at your side to progress well. Thankfully, I have a bit of both.

I used to use Open Minds, where I was involved in the initial and ongoing phases of the California Drone UFO conspiracy.

Conan Shows Us That Main Stream Media Is Scripted

Conan Shows Us That Main Stream Media Is Scripted | Intelligence | Scoop.it
A funny yet somewhat scary segment from Conan's show where dozens of news anchors are caught in the act of "reporting" the exact same story, the exact same way...
Darin Stevenson's insight:

Don’t watch this. I include it merely as evidence.

So, here is the problem. Conan is outing the fact that there is copying in our news, and that our news is often scripted. And he thinks this is some kind of genius, or activism. It isn’t.

Here is what activism looks like:

Conan’s move is well-intentioned, but is the useless and obvious, ‘knee jerk’ noticing that produces cultural approval. Here is what all the media reports failed to inform you about.

They have someone like me working for them. Someone who can inject ideas into consciousness like a surgeon. I use this to activate and liberate your own personal and communal intelligence. They use it to get you to ... support the economy with unthinkable selfishness... and to believe and recommend this... to others like yourself.

Here is the coded injection sequence, in text.

“It’s OK, you can admit it if you’ve bought an item or two or ten for yourself.”

The music and timing ... the gestures made during delivery... produces a parahypnotic state that, for many, forms an active suggestion that does not merely repeat once... but hopefully millions or thousands of millions of times. Not just in minds. In waves that spread throughout our social and intrapersonal networks.

I want to use this power to make us all more awake, aware, intelligent and authentic.

They want to make you buy 10 presents for yourself... every time you shop... for anything at all.

Darin Stevenson's insight:

Suiveilance affects the structured development of memory and intelligence. This method poses direct threats, opportunities and repercussions we must examine now, together, intelligently.

Fast, too. Our minds are being remade by technologies that are not our allies. They are our masters. And they are unfriendly to our own purposes and minds.

Did U.S. Gov’t Lie about TWA Flight 800 Crash? Ex-Investigators Seek Probe as New Evidence Emerges

Did U.S. Gov’t Lie about TWA Flight 800 Crash? Ex-Investigators Seek Probe as New Evidence Emerges | Intelligence | Scoop.it
Seventeen years ago, TWA Flight 800 crashed off Long Island, killing all 230 people aboard.
Darin Stevenson's insight:

The relatively reliable implication is the the US Government covered up either a horrifying mistake or an intentional airstrike test against an internal civilian target. Either idea is justifyably actionable. The latter would, in any nation with a hint of unity, shut the standing organs of government down and either re-establish or independently vet them at their own expense. Or more. A lot more.

North Carolina’s Bad Plan to Take Lawyers Away From Poor People

North Carolina’s Bad Plan to Take Lawyers Away From Poor People | Intelligence | Scoop.it
Earlier this month, in an attempt to cut $2 million from its budget, North Carolina eliminated access to public counsel for thousands of poor criminal defendants each year.
Darin Stevenson's insight:

First, privatize prisons. Next, privatize law enforcement. Then demand that persons ‘pay their legal bills’ to prosecute themselves so that you can lay back and rake in cash, and prisoners, at the same time. You get slaves who have to pay to be slaves, and the population and the slaves themselves both pay you to keep them that way, forever after.

And the internet, electronic data? Same plan. Same basic idea. Except we’re already been in prison so long we didn’t even know there was an outside. Yet. Soon.

Justice? I think snot. I think worse, even.

I will demonstrate something a bit more like intelligence. Shortly.

Eduardo Kohn’s How Forests Think: Toward an Anthropology Beyond the Human | Somatosphere

Eduardo Kohn’s How Forests Think: Toward an Anthropology Beyond the Human | Somatosphere | Intelligence | Scoop.it
Darin Stevenson's insight:

Intelligence is a game of incredibly dense relational layering.

Representations compete with this for dominance, terrain and survival.

The machine versions utilize human populations and terrestrial biocognition (anciently conserved relational webs) as disposible ‘income’ when it is actually the flesh and blood of our minds and futures.

Nature is not a luxury. It is our intelligence. Machines are garbage in comparison. In fact, the way we use them, we, and they, are overtly omnicidal.

Why it's time to lay the selfish gene to rest – David Dobbs – Aeon

Why it's time to lay the selfish gene to rest – David Dobbs – Aeon | Intelligence | Scoop.it
For decades, the selfish gene metaphor let us view evolution with new clarity. Is it now blinding us?
Darin Stevenson's insight:

Our ideas about evolution damaged the planet and our minds, severely. The reason? They are wrong. Deadly wrong.

Competition has genetic purchase. This is a fact.

What it means, however, is not even slightly understood. And the initial stances we took must be radically and objectively revised. Not by experts, but by those with the insight to look directly into what blinded those experts in the first place: ridiculous suppositions practiced into social and even ecological religions... of omnicide.

Darin Stevenson's insight:

The problem is not what we see; most often it is how we are seeing, and the models that inform our evaluations. These are self-aggrandizing and they obscure this process with pretense and hypothesis. This deadly danger is eating away at nature in pulses whose amplitudes have now directly invaded the minds that are causing this apocalypse of relational atrocity. We must stem the flow of human relational and evolutionary momentum into representational technologies and return it directly to our evolutionary, purposive and transentient development.

Now. Together. With and for each other and our world.

What no one is paying attention to is that we compete directly against these products and their data produce... for intelligence, attention, survival, and ecologies.

We are losing every competition.

We are now worth less alive than our data is when we are simply cataloged. And our governments and many others... will pay to support and protect data ... instead of living places, beings, children... or the future of life on Earth.

We are competing with this.

Woman who believes she was a fairy in a previous life has her ears cut and shaped to look more like an elf

Woman who believes she was a fairy in a previous life has her ears cut and shaped to look more like an elf | Intelligence | Scoop.it
Melynda Moon, 23, paid £250 to get pointed ears to resemble the fanciful creatures from her favourite film, The Lord Of The Rings.
Darin Stevenson's insight:

Representations of nonhuman ideals compete with you and me directly, for food and attention. With living places. And they win. What this means is that fictional hyperboles of our soul-identity likenesses... are created and sold to us after the original assets are amputated or actively inhibited both by culture and the ‘rebel subcultures’ ( actually just culture disguised as rebels in order to catch possible left-overs ) whose naive converts rush to ‘declare their loyalty to beauty and truth’ (actually just well-dressed fatal lies all over again).

We even compete against our own dead for survival, and lose. This recapitulates the origins of written language (formal representation), which we also began to have to compete against... and lose.

Apparently, everyone loves the dead! They relate more to skeletons than human persons or lives. Literally. I know girls who are »afraid they cannot easily be »drawn as stick figures. This is not a jest. I am being conservative, not hyperbolic.

The dead even have houses! We live by their laws! We pay to prosecute each other... in their names?

Because they, like »photographs are revered over yo and I. All the time. Millions of times per second, now. Over living beings and places.

Over our actual humanity, intelligence, personhood. We are encouraged to become more like them. But »they are dead. Now, if all the »women... would just »smash the photographs!!!

Darin Stevenson's insight:

Actual intelligence becomes more and more intelligent about the relationships between contexts and subjects for a simple reason.

Subjects »are these relationships.

Literally. And we have been pretending they were subjects »in isolation. Because that is, after all, how »science and religion both treat them. So, too, our culture.

So too, all our economic and social systems. Our educational systems. All of our diagnostic systems.

Darin Stevenson's insight:

This is both powerful and revolutionary because it leverages a subconscious and anciently endowed fact of our evolution, intelligence, and awareness. The ‘tree’ is the basis of all of our knowledge systems... even the cloud. Notice the one with many amputations? That is the result of ‘maturation’ in ‘modern cultures’. It is, quite simply, amputation.
