Think about it this way: It used to be you’d have a crisis communication plan written and it would stay in a drawer until your PR team pulled it out the following year, dusted it off, and gave it a good rewrite.

I’m sure you see or hear this a lot: Traditional PR is dead! Media relations is dead! Websites are dead! Marketing is dead! Advertising is dead! Newspapers are dead!

Granted, sometimes those things are written to motivate people to click on a link, but all of the customary ways of communication are far from dead. Instead, we find it’s necessary to integrate the things that are “dead” with digital public relations....

Integrated Marketing Communications Is More Important Than Ever

81% of Millennials spend their money in a brick-and-mortar store when it comes to their retail consumption. 51% use newspapers to find coupons and deals.

Karl Wabst's curator insight, September 19, 2013 4:09 PM

Targeting across multiple channels that your audience frequents is a better way to catch the attention - and convince - a person to buy your brand. Studies show that people must be exposed to messages several times before they sink in. You can be efficient in your spend and miss opportunities.

Evan Ranum's curator insight, September 26, 2013 7:52 PM

I enjoyed reading this article, it really surprised me how the figures show that Millennials top choice for coupons and deals comes from the newspaper? If they mean the physical newspaper, and not an online version, then that is very surprising. I have noticed though in my own workplace that the use of digital coupons via smartphones is becoming more and more popular, as it is like an all in one thing, rather than carrying around a lot of silly little paper coupons. But, its does go to show from these figures that, once again, multi channel communications is very important.

Why Storytelling Is The Future of Marketing

What is your 'story'?

Susan Velez's curator insight, October 5, 2013 12:50 PM

Awesome video and I know that story telling can be very powerful. I guess it's time to start reading more stories so I can get better at telling stories.

Katherine Anne's curator insight, October 7, 2013 5:48 PM

I think this video is very accurate. Today, we are bombarded by information about what we should buy, what we should do, etc. How much of this information do we actually retain? Barley nothing! For something to be retained, it has to be rememberable; what's rememberable? STORIES! The video explains stories are rememberable because they are meaningful. The Internet can so easily simplify information to market products, which ends up having so much information about so many different products all the time. If we take the time to explain a story behind a product when marketing it, I think it will be more profitable. STORIES are the new successful marketing strategy in this world filled with noise and information.

Marco Gabrielli's curator insight, November 12, 2013 2:30 PM

Jennifer Aaker illustra in un video l'efficacia della narrazione nella comunicazione di marketing.

"... le storie sono significative, memorabili e incisive, e motivano le persone nel compiere un'azione ..."

a) I lettori memorizzano meglio il messaggio;

b) Ascoltano, si fidano e acquistano;

c) Vivono le emozioni e razionalizzano solo dopo.

La narrazione ritrova il suo originale ruolo di mercato, pilotando le conversazioni di business.
