ECO-TRANSITIONS: Exploring the Next-Step Economy (Christian Arnsperger's blog): ... And now for a bit of philosophy: On economics as a science of prosperity

ECO-TRANSITIONS: Exploring the Next-Step Economy (Christian Arnsperger's blog): ... And now for a bit of philosophy: On economics as a science of prosperity | Integral Business | Scoop.it

Economics is about keeping us all prosperous, not about making us ever more affluent. That's a very wrong message, which the hijacking of economic science by the industrial-capitalist-modern mentality has ended up sending out. Economics ought to be about nothing else than maintaining human beings between these two thresholds -- prosperous, which means neither too despondent nor too affluent.

The Learning Generalist: The Seven Deadly Sins of Social Business

The Learning Generalist: The Seven Deadly Sins of Social Business | Integral Business | Scoop.it

The transition from the non-social way of working and learning isn't the easiest for organisations to deal with. Like every other system, organisations are a system with a state of equilibrium. This equilibrium brings in a state of inertia - an inertia of working a certain way. It takes a lot of effort to establish a new state of equilibrium and the discipline to do the right things. This includes avoiding the temptation to commit what I consider sins of social business.

Symbionomics: The Blog: Is a fair economy the right goal?

Symbionomics: The Blog: Is a fair economy the right goal? | Integral Business | Scoop.it

I believe we all know this is true on some level, yet we spend most of our waking lives working and spending in an economy built around contractual reciprocity. All forms of money that have ever existed were designed to enable someone’s idea of “fair” exchange. What makes economic questions so vexing is that everyone has a different idea about what “fair” actually means.

Self-Issued Credit in the Middle Ages « webisteme

Self-Issued Credit in the Middle Ages « webisteme | Integral Business | Scoop.it

In the Middle Ages, Roman bullion money ended up hoarded inside churches and monasteries, leading to a shortage of money in circulation. This led to the creation of new, improvised forms of paper money, issued by the people rather than their rulers. Esoteric types of credit money, such as ‘tea checks, noodle checks, bamboo tallies, wine tallies’ emerged China [1]. In England, money was issued by ‘shopkeepers, tradesmen and even widows who did odd jobs.’ [2]

Visualizing a Plenitude Economy

This fun animation provides a vision of what a post-consumer society could look like, with people working fewer hours and pursuing re-skilling, homesteading, and small-scale enterprises that can help reduce the overall size and impact of the consumer economy. Er zeigt allerdings auch auf, wie das Modell 'seines' Geldes, das er mit ein paar Wissenschaftlern entwickelt, funktionieren könnte.

The Seven Steps to Business Sustainability

The Seven Steps to Business Sustainability | Integral Business | Scoop.it

It’s tough explaining sustainability to executives. When it comes to knowledge, and acceptance of responsibility, they are all over the map. Surprisingly, those in the most polluting industries are often more advanced in their thinking than those in ‘service’ industries. The way to get attention for the subject, and the way to approach the issue, depends on who your audience is.
