How will the smart home sensors impact the risk of damage to homes from fire, burglary, etc?


Connected cars will provide a lot of new data.  How can we use this in better underwriting and pricing?


Are drones part of the future in inspecting losses after a tornado?


How about the impact of robotics to medical claims?


Does providing bikers a helmet that warns them a car is coming toward them lessen the likelihood of being critically injured?

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.0 earthquake was recorded near Perkins, Okla., in Payne County on Dec. 4. The USGS says the earthquake occurred at 9:54 p.m. about four miles northwest of Perkins.

U.S. property/casualty insurers can celebrate higher overall earnings and premium levels in the 2014 third quarter versus the same period a year ago, Moody’s Investors Service said in a new report.

Moody’s-rated U.S. property/casualty insurers produced earnings during the quarter that landed 6 percent higher than the 2013 third quarter, thanks to mild weather and a boost in investment income. Companies also generated a 4 percent jump in net premiums written in Q3 versus the same period last year, due to steadily rising insurance rates and exposures.


Good news..... now, we need to watch the impact on rate...It seems that commercial property rates had the biggest impact on a rate slow-down, according to the report.

The number of bicyclists killed on U.S. roadways is trending upward, particularly for certain subsets of the population, according to a by the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA).

While bicyclists killed in motor vehicle crashes increased in 22 states between 2010 and 2012, six states – California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Michigan and Texas – represented 54 percent of all fatalities.


Drivers .... stay alert and give the bicyclists the right of way they need to be safe.


Bicyclists... assure that you obey the rules of the road...and wear a helmet!
