Igor Partsei's insight:

Get ready for the pool with a learn to swim video

Swimming is a great activity for anyone who wants to get active and challenge themselves, whatever their age. Swimming helps keep anyone safer around water and also offers a great cardio work-out. But getting into the pool can be an intimidating experience. Thankfully, the development of digital technology over the last decades means that there is a great range of tools that you can use to make the transition from non-swimmer to swimmer so much easier.

Prepare for the pool with a learn to swim video

Watching Volker Baars’ DVDs and instructional online films is a great way of getting ready for the water. A learn to swim video can help you to identify what the main challenges will be once you get into the water. It can also motivate you to try things out and embrace swimming as an activity, rather than seeing it as an ordeal. A video can let you know in advance what you are likely to be facing and offers reassurance and comfort as a result. Other technological tools, such as phone apps, allow you to monitor your progress. You can then share your progress with friends, family and fellow swimmers by using social media. This helps you maintain motivation levels and encourages others who are learning to swim at the same time as you. A learn to swim video is also a great revision tool. While there is no substitute for working in the pool with an instructor, watching such films can give you a better idea of where your weaknesses lie. It also provides you with useful tips on how to improve. This is particularly true when it comes to demonstrating the correct form when using different swimming strokes. An instructor can only demonstrate so much when they are at the poolside, which often makes it hard to show swimmers just what their arms and legs should be doing under the water. A learn to swim video allows you to see exactly how your limbs should be working. You can practice these movements at home as a preparation for the pool. You can also rewind the video whenever you need to and watch important sections over and over again in order to fix them in your mind.

Young swimmers need help too

It is not just adult non-swimmers, who can benefit from using this type of tool. Young non-swimmers are often afraid of the water as well, and can find the whole idea of swimming frightening. Videos such as Volker Baars’ educational ones can help make the pool seem a much more welcoming and fun place to be for kids. Watching other kids and beginners enjoying swimming can be a real inspiration for youngsters. Young people, especially teenagers, are also experts in using social media and can help each other along the way as a result, sharing ideas and experiences. A learn to swim video is a great tool for adults and children, but always remember that it not always is a full replacement for working in the pool with an instructor, especially concerning young non-swimmers. Combine digital technology, such as a learn to swim video, with traditional learning, and you are likely to become a competent swimmer quickly.
