This is an incredibly useful tool that Susan Oxnevad has created, you can access the original from here:  http://soxnevad.edu.glogster.com/

I love how this shows a variety of ways to use Google Docs in a practical, engaging and professional manner in the classroom!

I believe that in the next 10-20 years we will say goodbye to the days of paper handouts, scrappy homework sheets and the horrid tacky scrap books with pages sticking out all over the place because of the tacky glue job we see so often, that wastes SO much class time!! Now we will say hello to the days where instead of wasting 5 minutes every day handing out pieces of paper to every child, we will click a button and SHARE assessment information, homework tasks and other activities for our students to do in a safe, secure online class network!

This tool is not only useful as described previously; it opens a direction in learning and collaborating as a class, toward a practical way of being sustainable, less or no paper needed, not printing, no ink use and certainly no landfill waste.

Making explicit links to  the Australian Curriculum, it is clear that dependant upon how students are involved in the creation and synthesis of google docs for specific purposes; students would demonstrate a multitude of the processes and production skills associated with Digital Technologies. Collecting and presenting information, analysing and interpreting data, working with others top plan and communicate solutions toward a common goal; are just a few outcomes that align with the Australian Curriculum.

I will also be writing about this glog on my blog at:

feel free to follow me and share any of your thoughts/suggestions!!

20 Apps and Tips to Help Students Study Better ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Instructional Technology | Scoop.it
It is amazing how much technology can do for students to enhance their learning and personal development. I wish we had these tech affordances when we were students, things could have been much easier. Technology, however, is only effective when it is leveraged in the right way and to the right purposes. The first step in the effective use of technology is to have access to the educational tools available out there. This is usually a daunting task as the web is teeming with all kinds of tools and it could take you forever to find, assess and evaluate the tools you want to use. To this end, the folks in Open Colleges have compiled this excellent list featuring 20 educational apps and gadgets. Students can use these tools to perform a variety of learning tasks from writing and researching to managing their time efficiently.  Together with these apps there are also some handy study tips for students to boost to their creativity. I spent sometime going through these tips and found them really worth a share here.

MathChat App Allows Students to Collaborate on Math Homework ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

MathChat App Allows Students to Collaborate on Math Homework ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Instructional Technology | Scoop.it
MathChat is an interesting new iPad  app that I discovered recently. As its name indicate, MathChat is an app that allows students to collaborate and work together on math problems.  This collaboration takes place in group chats where members get to exchange messages, use pointers to show how to solve a problem, or draw and add arrows to provide illustration and guidance on Math concepts. This collaborative feature of MathChat resembles to a great extent the work Whiteboard apps do.

Collaboration -- for the expansion of multiple learning opportunities.  Should students be encouraged to collaborate with others on tests and assignments?  Why is it that when students look up a word in a dictionary or consult a reliable reference source, that's OK, but if they consult a friend, that is sometimes considered cheating?

A Handy Chart on Traditional Vs Authentic Assessment ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Instructional Technology | Scoop.it
Today I spent sometime reading this white paper from Educause Learning Initiative entitled "Making the Grade:The Role of Assessment in Authentic Learning". While the paper discusses at length the the concept of assessment and its relation to students learning, I particularly found the chart in page 6, see below, of particular interest. It captures the essential differences between two models of assessment : Traditional Assessment model (TA) and Authentic Assessment model.

The first point is critical: take off your expert hat. I worked for School managers who cast themselves as experts failing to grasp the pace of change defies that thinking. Digital technologies and their impacts on School, learning, and teaching are continuing the change.
