Paris based artist Bernard Pras was creating room filling art pieces which at first look to be obsessively arranged piles of junk – step into the right place however and you are treated to a replication of a classic painting or famous portrait.

Curation, Sharing, Transparency and Failure: How We Can Learn by Sharing Our Process

Curation, Sharing, Transparency and Failure: How We Can Learn by Sharing Our Process | Inspiring Contemporary Artists | Scoop.it

We've heard the argument that everyone's a curator online by means of blogging and reblogging, but what about the professional curators who are responsible for producing major physical exhibitions ...

Crystina Castiglione's insight:
This article really brought to light what being globally connected can do for not just artists, but curators as well and how it can be used to create an entirely new type of exhibition. It also describes a new age of art that infuses the way we use technology, especially within social media networks.

I get that, Shawnna. The way I see it, recognition of one's own failure should be a cause for rejoicing, because the failure points towards success. Public acknowledgment of failure makes one human and approachable. There's no one I trust less than a self-proclaimed expert.

Stefan Sagmeister’s ‘Happy Show’ at Institute of Contemporary Art

Stefan Sagmeister’s ‘Happy Show’ at Institute of Contemporary Art | Inspiring Contemporary Artists | Scoop.it

The question I wanted to answer was, could I train my mind to be happy, the same way one trains one’s body?” he said. “In running, I know that I can train as much as I want and I’m never going to break the world record for the five miles. It’s partly genetics; I’m just not built for it. But if I worked really hard, I might be able to cut my time by half. Could I do the same thing with my mind and my well-being?”

Annie Leibovitz on Photography: "You Cannot Underestimate the Power of the Sitter"

Crystina Castiglione's insight:

Annie Leibovitz's work has always been very interesting to me, especially since she became famous before digital photography was around and now she is making this sort of transition and it is changing her work. It makes you question where photography's place in the art world stands anymore. I also am drawn to her work because she has a way of capturing her subjects, famous or not, from all over the world, in such a way that a story about them unfolds before your eyes.

Art Review Mickalene Thomas at the ICA a dazzling display

Art Review Mickalene Thomas at the ICA a dazzling display | Inspiring Contemporary Artists | Scoop.it

Mickalene Thomas's paintings in her small solo show at the Institute of Contemporary Art are a joy to look at. Swarovski rhinestones sparkle off their surfaces, which dance with eye-popping patterns and entice with thin washes and thick dollops of paint. That luxuriance is painting's legacy, and Thomas offers it up even as she challenges some of the underpinnings of visual seduction.

Crystina Castiglione's insight:

When I was in Boston in March, I was able to see this exhibition first hand at the ICA, it truly was incredible, and HUGE. This is an artist I would love to share with my students and furthur explore her artwork. I highly reccomend looking into her work even more to find out for yourself :)
