the announcement of southwest airlines’ modern new look introduces a redesigned blue, white, red and yellow livery, a reworked southwest logo, newly developed inflight materials and magazine, an advertising campaign that celebrates the airline’s unique personality, and a revamped experience both online and at its airport locations, all of which showcase the unique spirit and heart of the brand. to bring the company’s graphic overhaul into effect, southwest collaborated with advertising and branding studios GSD&M, Lippincott, VML, razorfish and camelot communications, who were responsible for distilling more than 40 years of history into one progressive look.
Artist, designer and art director Kevin Weir turned to history for inspiration for his latest GIFs. Using historical black-and-white photographs from the Library of Congress online archive, Weir created some very eerie and rather frightening GIFs. Weir got his start in making incredible GIFs like these by mastering design software while in graduate school.
"Superclusters – regions of space that are densely packed with galaxies – are the biggest structures in the Universe. But scientists have struggled to define exactly where one supercluster ends and another begins. Now, a team based in Hawaii has come up with a new technique that maps the Universe according to the flow of galaxies across space. Redrawing the boundaries of the cosmic map, they redefine our home supercluster and name it Laniakea, which means ‘immeasurable heaven’ in Hawaiian. Read the research paper here."
