Escape Machines - Surprise

Experiential marketing is all about generating talkability around your brand and the guys in charge of French railways certainly managed to that with this great experience on the Palais Royal in Paris.

SNCF wanted to spread the word about the “escape service” they offer on their booking site so they created this extravagant experience that certainly caused quite a stir!

A large unmarked black box with a red button appeared on the Palais Royal intriguing passers-by from the outset. There was no way that red button was going to last long un-pressed and as soon as a member of the public divulged their favourite of three destinations and pressed it the whole thing burst in to life!

The child in us loves the ridiculous and silly nature of the box once the button is pressed! It suspends reality for a few moments and takes you back to a previous time - a sure way to create an emotional attachment!

The brief was to make a Christmas card on behalf of WIEDEN+KENNEDY AMSTERDAM – something that we could give to clients, family, friends and even strangers. We realized what people want most around the holidays, more than any trinket or card, is to simply be together. No distance should keep loved ones apart. And so we decided to create a virtual holiday dinner, using the Internet to create a new type of Christmas greeting and blowing the traditional Christmas card out of the water.

 

At the end of the three days there were 16,000+ twitter mentions and 3,800 Facebook likes. Most importantly, 156 people, from 6 continents had gathered together for a holiday dinner. There were romantic dates, cross-continental family reunions and even first time meetings.

The Sex Profile

BRIEF: Even though young Swedes know that condoms generally are a good idea, they aren’t very good at using them.

 

SOLUTION: We created “The Sex Profile” – a smartphone app that provided a personal sex graph based on rhythm, sound level and duration while having sex. Integrated with the app, the sex graphs were directly uploaded to the campaign site. With the question “How are you getting laid this summer?”, we invited the target group to get involved in the campaign.

 

RESULTS: At the end of summer over 5.900 sex profiles were registered – which beat our goal with 590%. As many as 39% of young Stockholmers said they had become more positive to condom use than before. This exceeded our goal for the campaign with 98%.
