Color Constructions From a Rocket Engineer Turned Photographer | LightBox | TIME.com | Inspiration | Scoop.it
Boris Savelev, who spent his working life in the former Soviet Union as a rocket engineer, brings the same methodical eye to his photography and printing process. Color Constructions, a new exhibition of his work, represents the apex of his experimentation in printmaking.
KatRas's insight:

Oh why i did not see this any earlier, so wanted to go. These iamegs are beautiful and have this nostalgic and intimate feel to them, somethign i want to achive as well. Also what is interesting is that this man used to be rocket engenieer for Soviet Union (again link to my work), so it is so fascinating to see how he sees the world through camera lense. Oh and those colours, beauty.

Nick Veasey’s Medical X-Rays | LightBox | TIME.com | Inspiration | Scoop.it
To accompany this week’s cover story, TIME commissioned Veasey to take X-ray images of medical supplies, including acetaminophen bottles, IV bags and syringes. Using low-dose radiation from one of his three X-ray machines, Veasey turned the supplies into pellucid still lifes.
KatRas's insight:

I really like these images. As i am recently started working on my film camera skills and dream would be to use darkroom my self. Also i have experimented with film negatives a lot lately in my projects, that have similar aesthetics,so this is quite interesting for me.

Edgar Lissel « Microbial Art

KatRas's insight:

Featured gallery: Edgar Lissel

German artist Edgar Lissel has been working with microorganisms to create intriguing images since 1999. He combines the light-seeking behaviour of cyanobacteria with his expertise in photographic techniques, using the exposure of light on petri dishes to influence the growth of the microorganisms in specific patterns.

THis is so interesting. So closely related to my last years project ,so i am naturally curious about this topic.
Bacteria and use of it in art, design and fashion world.
Inspiration for zine and t-shirt (illustration wise)

Inside Derek Jarman

Inside Derek Jarman | Inspiration | Scoop.it
Curator Mark Turner shows us around his intimate Somerset House show about the iconic polymath
KatRas's insight:

Mark Turner: I really wanted to highlight Jarman’s love of words, he approached the art of writing in such a wonderful manor. He would take to his desk with his sketchbooks and fountain pen set out before him, to create this beautiful handwriting. For him it was another ritual, an act.

Just discovered Derek Jarman, really inspired with his work, especially with his sketchbooks.. WIsh mine would look like this! Theya re so beautiful, visual feast.

Need to go to this exhibition at Somerset House!

Pixelstick: An Amazing Device That Lets You Paint With Light

Pixelstick: An Amazing Device That Lets You Paint With Light | Inspiration | Scoop.it
Imagine how cool it would be, if you could actually 'paint' with light. We're not talking about madly dashing a sparkler around on New Years Eve and trying to quick write you're name, we're talking...
KatRas's insight:

I WANT THAT DEVICE! Amazing how people come up with these ideas. Although it is still fun to do this in old fashion way, but it could be useful for different art projects.
PS! It looks like i am stepping bit far from my own concept, as i plan to use quite dark, simple and clean colours, but with a hint of colour popping out now and then.

KatRas's insight:

Oh Wow, such a cool idea. I love that he took something old and classic and gave it whole new purpose. More of these please. I find that we don´t always have to create something brand new, for once in a while it is refreshing when designers, artists and scientists take something old and give it a new life!
Would love to own that typewriter, this would make my project so much more fun and creative(well i would use bit darker colours, if i could ever ever have my fingers on it)

Charlie Le Mindu Haute Couture SS14

Charlie Le Mindu Haute Couture SS14 | Inspiration | Scoop.it
Fast forward to a cyber world of neon seapunks, whipping their blinding hair back and forth
KatRas's insight:

Neon and UV is not that new in fashion, music and design world. Few years ago neon and uv found its way from rave parties to design world. For a moment it was everywhere, people were fascinated by it-why not? It is sooo much fun..I lovvve uv lights.
Still i have not noticed that fashion deisgners would use that kind of approach  to the use of neon/uv.
Especially what i like about is that natural world and nature has been an inspiration!

Initial reaction:

If brightly coloured corals from under the sea fused with humans to make a new species and found themselves inside Cyber Dog, the cult rave and trance gear shop in Camden.

The real inspiration:

The seapunk and spacepunk movement – discovering a new world where man has not been yet but might be tangible in the future.

The process:

It took Le Mindu months in darkness to perfect the blindingly bright neon hues that got the audience oooh-ing and aaah-ing at every model. They glow both under UV light and in the light of day.

Exclusive: Aitor Throup on working with Damon Albarn EVERYDAY ROBOTS! | Inspiration | Scoop.it
The London menswear designer – and creative director of Damon Albarn's first ever solo album – on creating a visual system for the visionary musician
KatRas's insight:

Perhaps the most interesting credit, however, is the project's creative director: Aitor Throup. One of London menswear's most distinctive and conceptual new designers, he's been taken on to oversee the "visual system" for Everyday Robots. As the video for the record's title track drops (watch it below!), Dazed premieres a video interview with Aitor, in which he discusses the link between Damon, ancient rituals and facial reconstruction techniques, and an exclusive look at Aitor's sketch for the project.

This is how creative people work! Take inspiration and learn and reflect!
Ancient, connected to nature, ancient rituals, but in the same time always respected new technology, using it and collaborating with people in tech world.
EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO DO!!!
