Print 13 In-Plant Graphics Lunch Slides: UPMC's Path To In-Plant Printing

Pittsburgh-based University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, better known as UPMC, is a world-renowned health care provider and insurer and the largest nongovernmental employer in Pennsylvania. UPMC is affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences.

 

The UPMC print center prints data center and web to print work. They utilize several RSA solutions- ourMISPrint software for mainframe datastream conversion, QDirect Output Manager, and WebCRD web to print with our VDP module, WebCRD Dynamics.

 

In this presentation, UPMC details the tools and processes they are using to analyze, control, reduce and monitor millions of dollars in external print spend and maximize the efficiency and current investment in the print center. The presenter also details how she worked with Management and Finance to develop the center's ROI using a road map to lay out how the operation will manage and support all of the print projects, delivering the service levels UPMC expects in a demanding healthcare environment. The project is slated to provide significant savings, increase efficiency and ease of compliance, and add new print center staff to support the new business model.

Print 13 Session Slides: Budget Buzz: Lessons Learned from K-12 School Print Centers

Blue Valley Schools in Kansas have a high volume print center that helps their district squeeze the most out of their budget dollars, offering services and innovative ways to deliver without adding staff. In an era of mandates and propositions, they have been able to give teachers back planning time and save the district precious resources.

 

Using WebCRD, QDirect and QDirect.SCAN, the print center has increased volume 735%, saves $100k in chargebacks per year, and saves teachers almost 50,000 hours annually. All without adding staff or increasing their budget.
