Why It’s Ok To Be Average

Why It’s Ok To Be Average | Innovatus | Scoop.it
This month I’m posting every day, picking the top voted reader question and answering it.
Pintolaranja's insight:

Pretty much for the same reason why nobody reads a comic strip because it was drawn well (@thisissethsblog http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2013/12/no-one-reads-a-comic-because-its-drawn-well.html)

Good vs Bad Leader

Good vs Bad Leader | Innovatus | Scoop.it
Software is more about people than technology. When I graduated from college, I thought I only had to master technical skills to be a great developer, thinking that people skills are the appanage of managers solely.

How to Spot Good and Bad Bosses in Your Job Search

How to Spot Good and Bad Bosses in Your Job Search | Innovatus | Scoop.it
Take time to evaluate your future manager
Pintolaranja's insight:

I would prefer the article not to  be focused on two ends of an interval. Working on the assumption that the future boss is either a tyrant or terrific may lead to quite some information loss.

Still, there are good aspects to consider, signs that help keeping your eyes open and spot some fishy details on the interviewer's conduct.

It is also my belief that sometimes we do not notice the less interesting aspects of the employer and company because we actually (rationally) do not want to. Follow your gut. Listen to that twist of your stomach or hair raising at the back of your head. Emotions are key and should not be underestimated.

Conflict Strategies for Nice People

Conflict Strategies for Nice People | Innovatus | Scoop.it
Conflict is a necessary part of a functioning team. But it doesn't need to be mean.
Pintolaranja's insight:

I've seen it happen. Heck, I have done it myself!

In case you get tired of always having to fight for some of your opinions to be considered, take a break. But then do come back. Taking a break is ok, everyone needs to breathe more deeply even if just for a few moments, get their thoughts back into place. It might even help finding new ways of explaining what you think to others.

Just don't quit.

And don't come and say "I don't care anymore, I just want to get my work done". You are misleading yourself and throwing sand at the eyes of those who do reckon you have something to say but are holding it back. By doing that you are taking your own share of building mistrust and overall lack of self confidence.

Why Content Curation is the Ultimate Compliment to the Creator | Innovatus | Scoop.it

Stateless Mindset : zenhabits

Pintolaranja's insight:

In other words, do one thing at a time. Focus on that thing alone, remember what you must in order to accomplish it and get id done.

Then... when it is done just comfortably take it out of your way.

Focus and statelessness help achieving stillness of mind :)

A geek note:

Even in a multi-threaded environment there is only one thread / one process running at a time. In machines. Something we clearly are not.

People do not come with mutiple cores/processors yet :D

Dear Lifehacker,I have a coworker who, for lack of a better word, is really stupid. He asks me how to do the same thing several times per day, regularly makes inane comments, and screws up projects for the whole team.

In the end, just be respectful and don't start by assuming the worse (that they are indeed dumb or stupid).
