To stand out: try stuff, even when it’s crap

To stand out: try stuff, even when it’s crap | Innovatus | Scoop.it

Your ideas are yours alone, so the main point here is: make them come true.

If it doesn't work out, well, there are more ideas to try out, right?

That is what is called embracing failure. Fail a lot and ahead of time, the experience you take from it and the results can only improve for whatever comes next.

Nicole Sullivan, "Don't Feed The Trolls"

A speak done by @stubbornella at Fluent 2012 conference.

More than fun, it appeals to awareness and to focus on what really matters while dealing with conflict (trolyish behavior).

And then there is the self awareness and improvement part, which each of us should definitely look into.

Loved it!

» Being a Servant Leader is HARSH – ScrumMasters Who Don’t Believe in Servant Leadership » Agile Scout

» Being a Servant Leader is HARSH – ScrumMasters Who Don’t Believe in Servant Leadership » Agile Scout | Innovatus | Scoop.it

This is very interesting, although maybe something else should be considered: scrum masters as servant leaders are people too. They also have frustrations. And when the organization is a monster that at some point in time blocks every bit of the path for them to keep believing in being servant leaders... or maybe made of people who do this blocking for whatever reason...

Well... depending on a huge amount of factors, people that used to be servant leaders may very well give in to frustration.

Should they have done something like maybe look for new jobs before this happened?

Sure, but they believed they could change the world, so they took second and maybe third or more chances to make the change.

It is not always black or white.

But I do agree with one thing: if the scrum master already starts doing his/her work not believing in being a servant leader, they might as well not start at all.

3 Ridiculous Popular Beliefs About Learning that Hold Us Back

3 Ridiculous Popular Beliefs About Learning that Hold Us Back | Innovatus | Scoop.it

"Some ideas never die, no matter how little fact they’re based in. Popular misconceptions can be fairly harmless, like the belief that it’s dangerous to wake a sleepwalker ..."

Ever heard of this? Ever found some popular belief that tells you not to try something or follow some path based on "scientific" data that shows a guy or a woman of a certain age cannot do certain things?

I think the best I heard was related with being left or right brained, but this article actually cleared the myth for me (which I couldn't quite believe in anyway, but needed some backup support for the idea).

Choosing Between Making Money and Doing What You Love

Choosing Between Making Money and Doing What You Love | Innovatus | Scoop.it

This discussion seems to be always too hard.

I am coming to realize that regardless of being profitable or not, doing what you love is the way to go.

Don't know what you wanna be when you grow up? Well... pick what you like to do most at this very same moment and go for it.

If you change your mind, you then can decide whether you should quit again and pursuit something else.

Another good reading on this line of thought is "The Dip" by Seth Godin.

Please fail. And fail a lot. But be sure you get into something because you love it and are willing to work hard for it to overcome the difficulties. Otherwise it may not be worth investing your time in it.

beginner's mind

when I first spoke with my friend Ivo about leaving my previous job, I told him the story of the jazz guitar player who was always switching bands:
“ “I always want to be the worst player in a band”...

A post from a friend of mine about the restless minds and spirit.

He has been inspiring me quite a bit and while reading these words of his I actually recognized myself.

Do you want to be the best or the rookie? Btw, which one is actually the best?

Boringness: The Secret to Great Leadership

Boringness: The Secret to Great Leadership | Innovatus | Scoop.it
