Seth's Blog: "It's not business, it's personal"

I've been told by a cardiologist upon finding I tend to have high blood pressure with nervous hereditary origins:

"I would a million times prefer to work with someone like you than with someone whose blood is as cold as that of a snake"

So yeah, I prefer to work with people who take it personally. Those are the ones taking responsibility and accountability for the result of their work and for getting it done the way it should, bringing good results.

Schauderhaft » About Estimating

Emotional Energy is More Real Thank You Might Think

"It turns out that when you're feeling emotionally or mentally "drained," you're more right on with your wording than you know. "

Great article, highlighting what we all seem to know but don't do: sleeping is sacred. And so is eating. Do it properly and your energy levels change.

Seth's Blog: The map has been replaced by the compass

The map keeps getting redrawn, because it's cheaper than ever to go offroad, to develop and innovate and remake what we thought was going to be next. Technology keeps changing the routes we take to get our projects from here...

Seth's Blog: The extraordinary software development manager

"Being good at programming is insufficient qualification for becoming a world class software project manager/leader."

Being exellent at programming, imo, also doesn't give you such qualification. If you are a great programmer and like it, don't fall into the mistake of getting into management because you feel it is the right step in your career, neither let someone else push you into this path.

Just do what you enjoy and are good at. And if people don't like it, move to another company, to another country, whatever it takes.

In the end you feel much more pleased with the results. And stuff in your professional life keeps making sense.

Other than that all you get is starting to lack in confidence on your skills and actually yourself. Stress steps in and with the snap of a snowball effect all you get is to find you are overwhelmed with stuff you cannot handle.

Seth's Blog: Fear, scarcity and value

I read it somewhere else or heard it from someone and it got stuck with me ever since: "The reason you fear something is most likely the reason why you should go for it and do it. It will make you grow as an individual, being it the case that it brings good or bad result as an experience"

So... take the most out of it!

This article focus on something many people try to close their eyes to and deviate their attention from.

So... make sure you don't treat them as such. And if you are being treated as one... well... make sure to change. Start doing something else.

Three Significant Changes in the Role of Senior Leaders

Three Significant Changes in the Role of Senior Leaders | Innovatus | Scoop.it

Some say that as you get older it gets more difficult to learn and assimilate information and adapt your behavior.

It may very well be true, but it is also true that you are wiser and more experienced, which means in fact you have more power and capability to adjust. To evolve.

So... what is lacking in so many leaders nowadays?

Maybe a simple thing called: will.

If you don't have it, get it. Without it, you are lost in this world. Collective consciousness and mindset is becoming more and more of a reality. Entrepreneurship exists in every corner. People are more and more aware that they are not machines or objects to merely take orders.

Got it?

Seth's Blog: Why lie?

" "We've decided to hire someone with totally different skills than yours..." and then they hire someone just like you, but more expensive and not as good. "We're not going to buy a car this month, my husband wants to wait..."..."

I've been told a bit more than half the truth ONCE (I really mean a single time) in hundreds of situations.

This single (almost) truthful approach deserves my respect (would be full if the full truth had been presented to me). Because then I can actually evolve and make a choice.

I truly wish more people did the same.

If you tell the truth you are helping both yourself and the person you are telling it to. Think about that for a second.
