Fire Up Teams by Creating Opportunities to Learn

Fire Up Teams by Creating Opportunities to Learn | Innovatus | Scoop.it
Over the years, I've had the privilege of leading people who are creative, smart and high functioning. The challenge of leading exceptional people is… well… exceptionally challenging.
Pintolaranja's insight:

For this, one needs to be ready to listen.

Fake listening doesn't count. Fake listening is the type of pseudo listening where one acknowledges the idea someone else is trying to bring to the table and then immediately turn it down by stating it is not valid or not interesting for whatever reason. Fake listening only leads to frustration and gossip and speculation because the person who gets refused will most likely become known for making stupid proposals.

So, really listen and always take the best out of what someone in your team is saying, use that to grow as a whole and include the others in the discussion. If a goal is not already there, start by setting one up, so the discussion is objective.

My 50cents from my own experience.

Maybe. Sometimes. But here is my take. I think most people are reasonable. If there is a better way to do something, they’ll consider it. Just because they resist, doesn’t mean they are afraid. It might mean you haven’t made a compelling case. It might mean that they have legitimate constraints that you haven’t taken …
