Awesome Visual on The Importance of Reading Aloud to Kids

Awesome Visual on The Importance of Reading Aloud to Kids | Innovative Leadership in School Libraries | Scoop.it

"Below is a graphic I come across while wading through my feeds today. The visual emphasizes the importance of read-alouds  in early literacy learning. It also features a set of interesting facts on how reading aloud helps in kids' literacy development. Reading aloud to kids is not only beneficial to young learners linguistic abilities but is also connected to their social and cognitive development. And the most important of them all is that only 15 minutes of read-aloud is enough to make a difference"

But what do we mean by 21st century education? Things are changing around us very dramatically, very quickly. The world is becoming more interconnected, the environment is becoming less stable, and technology is continuously altering our relationship to information. Changing global conditions demand that we rethink what, but even more important, how and where we learn. We need education for the 21st century.

"CRAP stands for Currency, Reliability, Authority and Purpose/Point of view and if the source is not strong in any of these areas, it could well be a 'crap' source. It is not a new acronym for evaluating information, and I didn't create it, but I have adopted it and teach it in the middle years and above. The students respond to it and remember the acronym."
