How To Get Your Best Customers To Do Your Marketing For You

How To Get Your Best Customers To Do Your Marketing For You | Innovative Ideas and Nuggets to Get You Thinking | Scoop.it

As a small business owner, you’ve got a lot on your plate. With so many different hats to wear, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could get your best customers to do your marketing for you?

If only it were that easy, right?

Matt Rogers's curator insight, September 14, 11:16 PM

This article presents an interesting five step process for effectively creating brand ambassadors.  The process consists of creating goals, recruiting a small group, creating a community around your product, rewarding the ambassadors, and adjusting it based on what works and doesn't.  Brand ambassadors can be vital to the success of a company and potential superiority over competitors.  Getting customers involved can also create a greater sense of loyalty than just doing business as usual.

Martin (Marty) Smith's curator insight, September 15, 9:27 AM

Our epiphany was realizing the most socially shared and linked to content on our websites and blogs wasn't ours but THEIRS. When customers share content they support it with links from their social nets. This "Friends of Friends" marketing is how your brand breaks through to the other side of the filter bubble.

Filter bubbles, well outlined by Eli Pariser in a TED talk, http://www.ted.com/talks/eli_pariser_beware_online_filter_bubbles?language=en,  make it all but impossible for branded marketing messages to reach their intended audience.

Marketing today must be done by friends of your and friends of theirs where "theirs" are people your brand doesn't know yet. When your brand is introduced thanks to "friends of friends" marketing then trust and conversion aren't far away.

Going in cold is not something that works very often in a socially connected time like this.

The Stages of Personalized Learning Environments (PLE) needed to be updated again. Why? Because of the considerable feedback we received from participants in our 5 W's of Personalized Learning eCourse about our first and second versions of the chart. Some of the feedback was about consistency and flow across the stages. What worked in what stage? We definitely want to thank those that critiqued the stages for us and helped us with this version three that we hope will be the final version.-

Making lectures and lessons more interactive with mQlicker | Innovative Ideas and Nuggets to Get You Thinking | Scoop.it

As the traditional lecture has come increasingly under fire for being completely out of touch with modern teaching and learning methods, there has been a move by many teachers, conference presenters and lecturers to make their teaching techniques more modern and interactive. One of the key technologies for enabling this has been a range of audience response systems that provide real time responses to polls, questions and surveys while the speakers is actually presenting.

A very interesting tool, that teachers can use inside and outside the formal learning area. Where students can interact with the information live during the lecture (where most interaction should happen anyway) closing the 'cold and insigificant' student-lecturer relationship. Students can respond to the data while the lecture is in progress. As expensive and time-consuming (training) this intiative would be to udertake it would certainly improve lecture attedance. :D

Juliet O'Connor's curator insight, September 15, 11:20 AM

This is article is about how most websites are created without marketing in mind. It is not enough to just create a great website you have to market it in order for it to generate traffic. The article lists "5 Steps" in order to generate traffic.

There are most likely millions of websites with the same goals, products, services, and content but the way to stand out is to market yourself to consumers. If a website doesn't market it self on social media today then it is probably obsolete. most big names and even some small market them selves on social media. I remember in a previous class we were looking at social media pages for food companies and found some odd ones with Facebook pages however even if they were odd they were still generating traffic. for instance Grey Poupon has a great Facebook page it is interactive and very informative and they have about 70,000 likes which for a mustard Facebook I would assume is a lot.

Ashley Brown's curator insight, September 15, 12:00 PM

This article talks about five steps that you should take in order to increase website traffic using social media marketing, The five steps are:

1. Create social profiles for your business and link them back to your website

2. Increase social media engagement and monitor regularly

-the more you engage on your social media sites the more traffic and increased brand value you will see day by day

-also make sure that what you're sharing is relevant and unique info about your product or service

3. Start a blog

- by starting a blog you stay active on your social media which ensures you always have something to say and you don't lose followers

4. Social media Ads

-use social media ads to increase website traffic

-make sure you link the ads back to the website landing page

5. Social Media Share buttons

-make sure you have easy to locate and one step share buttons on your page so that your viewers can share your content on their own pages.

"Sharing insight on a topic you're well versed in"... This is so fundamental to being a Thought Leader.

Shana Starr lists five steps. I subscribe to all of them.

I'd add content curation to them: finding, acknowledging and sharing great content created by others also contributes to demonstrating your expertise and willingness to share; a legit and effective addition to writing; a necessary skill of Thought Leaders.

1. Clarify your purpose

2. Identify your voice

3. Write

4. Build an active online presence

5. Be a mentor.

Great post, wise advices.

How Technology Has Changed Our Idea of ‘Knowledge,’ and What This Means for Schools | Innovative Ideas and Nuggets to Get You Thinking | Scoop.it

The fact that knowledge is no longer fixed, but constantly evolving, and the speed at which new knowledge appears online have contributed to our sense of “information overload,” Weinberger said.
