YouTube has a firm place in the current classroom. From Khan Academy’s videos to YouTube EDU and beyond, there’s a reason all these videos are finding a home in schools. In an effort to help keep the ball rolling, Google just launched a set of 10 interactive lessons designed to support teachers in educating students on digital citizenship. A topic obviously quite close to Google’s heart.

Google (which owns YouTube) built the lessons to educate students about YouTube’s policies, how to flag content, how to be a safer online citizen, and protect their identities.

Below is a list of lessons, and the recommended flow for delivery. Lessons are designed to fit within 50 minute classes, but can be adapted to fit your schedule:

how to find, use, create and share OER resources and open ebooks?

how to find, use, create and share OER resources and open ebooks? | Innovation & Learning | Scoop.it

The Bibliothek used to be a labyrinth ...

... the very old books used to be chaned with a metal catena and the former books could not be described as "portable" :-)

... since the invention of paperbacks is is usable to carry books around, read in a train ...

... but the actual revolution in publishing, sharing and producing books and other documents in the social web ... brings a complete new handling with books, words, literature, culture ...

.. and is is important to experiment with new form of production, distribution and receptions of books.

I want to share and explore new forms of reading, writing, speaking, commenting, linking, sharing and distributing of "texts", which also means interactive and "living" hypermedia files ...

.. a lot of  projects files and books will be in english, but i will also have o look on german resources ... so my language will be english and german, sorry for my ugly english ...

Theory and Practice of Online Learning

Theory and Practice of Online Learning | Innovation & Learning | Scoop.it

heory and Practice of Online Learning, edited by Terry Anderson and Fathi Elloumi, is concerned with assisting providers of online education with useful tools to carry out the teaching and learning transactions online. It presents, in an easily readable form, the theory, administration, tools, and methods of designing and delivering learning online. By doing so, the authors bring to the teaching community a valuable product which should go a long way in popularizing the use of the learning technologies.
Education, more than any other human endeavor, should be a real and lasting beneficiary of the ICT revolution. However the potential of this revolution can only be realized if those engaged in delivering education are knowledgeable, skilled, and able to apply these technologies effectively and efficiently. Despite the loud rhetoric of recent times, the uptake of learning technologies by the educational community is rather slow, reflecting partly the low levels of investment, in money and time, in the training of educational workers by individuals and their institutions, as well as the paucity of training materials on the subject. This publication, with its clarity and detail, greatly enhances our knowledge of the issues and our skills in addressing them.

Sentence Frames for Textual Evidence | Roz Linder.com

Sentence Frames for Textual Evidence | Roz Linder.com | Innovation & Learning | Scoop.it

When I talk with elementary school teachers about introducing the concept of supporting ideas with reasons and references to the text, I often get puzzled looks. This is understandable. Common Core, however, asks students to do this as young as third grade. This pedagogical shift away from just selecting a multiple choice response is daunting, but can be so rewarding for students. Teachers are thinking about how to answer the question: How do you know? Teachers need to probe students not to select the desired answer, but to add proof, support opinions, and interrogate text for how authors do the same. The Teaching Channel has a great 2 minute model that shows how to use sentence frames with elementary students.
