LJ Talks to David Weinberger About the Living Web | Innovation and the knowledge economy | Scoop.it

David Weinberger: Paper-based knowledge was so efficient because it constituted a system of stopping points: you consulted the expert or the book, got your answer, and then could move on. Of course, you could always challenge the expert’s claim, but the power of the system was that usually you didn’t have to. Knowledge’s new medium is hyperlinked. It’s a system of temptations to continue rather than a set of stopping points.

Daniel Kahneman on the Trap of 'Thinking That We Know'

Daniel Kahneman on the Trap of 'Thinking That We Know' | Innovation and the knowledge economy | Scoop.it

A Nobelist in economics, a psychologist, describes the potent filters shaping how we perceive information. The talk is extraordinary for the clarity (and humor) with which he repeatedly illustrates the powerful ways in which the mind filters and shapes what we call information. .

Please carve out the time to watch his slide-free, but image-rich, talk. It’s a shorthand route to some of the insights described in Kahneman’s remarkable book, “Thinking, Fast and Slow” (I’m a third of the way through).

The future of research libraries

The future of research libraries | Innovation and the knowledge economy | Scoop.it

Interesting predictionsby the ARL: “Although the purpose of academic and research library collections remains the same – to support the creation and dissemination of new knowledge – the nature of collections is moving away from ‘local’ to collaborative and multi-institutional. New forms of scholarship are transforming user expectations for broad, barrier free collection discovery and access. Libraries must transform their approaches to meet new user demands..

Leernetwerken als innovatief perspectief voor opleiden en leren in organisaties (#in #CELSTEC)) - Wilfred Rubens: technology enhanced learning | Innovation and the knowledge economy | Scoop.it
