Within the overall framework of Unesco’s strategy on Open Access (OA) to scientific information and research, the international organisation has just made a complete set of nine Open Access modules for researchers and library schools available online.
These OA curricula include a set of customised modules which can easily be fitted with the educational needs of different stakeholders and can be integrated with any sensitisation programmes of OA.
These curricula will soon be converted into self-directed e-learning tools, which will enable users to self-assess their knowledge on OA and take a learning pace that is initiated and directed by the learners themselves.
Unesco also aims to strengthen this initiative by translating the OA curricula into several languages that will increase their reach and impact.
Also, with the support of the UK, Unesco has launched its new Transparency Portal, intended to present comprehensive, quality and timely information about the organisation’s projects around the world and ensure that aid effectively contributes to sustainable development.

With this new Transparency Portaland its ongoing Open Access initiatives, the organisation increases its commitment to free and universal knowledge for the benefit of innovation and socio-economic development.

The World Digital Library (WDL) is one example of how multiple languages can be incorporated on single platforms.
