Decálogo para un turismo consciente y responsable

Decálogo para un turismo consciente y responsable | Innovation and Development | Scoop.it

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Mediocre Entrepreneurs

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Mediocre Entrepreneurs | Innovation and Development | Scoop.it

I’ve started a bunch of companies. Sold some. Failed at most. I’ve invested in a bunch of startups. Sold some. Failed at some, and the jury is still sequestered on a few others. I can tell you overall, though, everything I have done has been distinguished by its mediocrity, its lack of a grand vision, and any success I’ve had can be just as much put in the luck basket as the effort basket.

New York City Launches Digital Toolkit for Small Businesses

New York City Launches Digital Toolkit for Small Businesses | Innovation and Development | Scoop.it

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday announced the city’s first Digital Toolkit for small businesses, a new education program aimed at helping the small businesses of New York City develop their online presence and social media strategies. The program will be administered by the city’s Small Business Services department at their local education centers throughout the five boroughs.

NYC’s Digital Toolkit is of a series of courses that will explain how a small business can incorporate technology and social media into their business strategy for marketing, sales and customer service. It will also include an online component with best practices and website design templates.

The digital toolkit will help New York City’s entrepreneurs with the resources they need to engage more consumers online,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “The web can open up worlds of opportunities for these businesses, but many of them presently lack even their own website, let alone a social media campaign.

The program was created in partnership with Mashable, Google, Tumblr and Weebly.

This program is part of New York City’s effort to bring a digital focus to all New Yorkers through The Digital Roadmap. Other recent initiatives include turning payphones into WiFi hotspots and rolling out a map of all the tech companies headquartered in New York last June.

Urban Trees Reveal Income Inequality

Urban Trees Reveal Income Inequality | Innovation and Development | Scoop.it
Wealthy cities seem to have it all. Expansive, well-manicured parks. Fine dining. Renowned orchestras and theaters. More trees. Wait, trees?

this short article explains the evidence supporting tree to rich cities ratio. it goes to show that if I'm going to pay big bucks for location I would want the scenery to be beautiful hands down. they mention the per capita increase to tree ratio and how its only a dollar that influences such a high quantity of trees in city. bottom line is that it makes sense for the more trees in wealthier neighborhoods of the city because when your in the heart of the city you tend to see quantity of quality of homes and being jammed packed into small square footage doesn't leave much room for nature. but go just outside the city where the real estate is high and more spacious and you will find more trees the further and further from the center.

Like a previous article it explains how if viewing a neighborhood with lush grass and huge yards with landscaped grounds it is associated with big money. People pay top dollar for houses that have huge back yards and privacy of trees. You would not see yards like this is the city though so these neighborhoods on the outskirts of the citylines.

Interesting the value, in the broadest sense, that trees can bring in an urban setting
