tecnología en educacion

Via Ramon Aragon, En el núvol
Alfredo Corell's insight:

18 Ways To Use Rubrics In Education

18 Ways To Use Rubrics In Education | Create, Innovate & Evaluate in Higher Education | Scoop.it
Rubrics are an extremely useful classroom evaluation tool, though many teachers these days aren’t using them anymore, and don’t think they are necessary. The lovely graphic below from Mia MacMeekin takes a look at rubrics and why they should be used and what they can improve, along with a little guide for teachers on rubrics. …
Alfredo Corell's insight:

What is a rubric, and why should I use it?

Rubrics are scoring charts that display what is expected of a student on a particular assignment. The students can use the rubric when working on their assignment to ensure they know what is expected and can aim to meet those expectations, and teachers can use them when grading the assignment to ensure they are grading fairly and evaluating each assignment evently.

Taller Construcción de Rúbricas para evaluación

Taller Construcción de Rúbricas para evaluación | Create, Innovate & Evaluate in Higher Education | Scoop.it

Alfredo Corell's insight:

Teachers can decide how they would like to separate their courses and personalize their learning groups. LearnerPal allows the teacher to keep track of multiple groups and determine which students should be enrolled in each section. Teachers may decide to create courses based on class groups, skill level, or by subject area and unit of study.  Each course will be assigned its own learning activities by the teacher to help differentiate instruction.

The Most Important Question Every Assessment Should Answer

The Most Important Question Every Assessment Should Answer | Create, Innovate & Evaluate in Higher Education | Scoop.it

"The difference between assessment of learning and assessment for learning is a crucial one, in many ways indicative of an important shift in education.

Traditionally, tests have told teachers and parents how a student “does,” then offers a very accessible point of data (usually percentage correct and subsequent letter grade) that is reported to parents as a performance indicator."

"Assessment for learning" versus "assessment of learning" is also promoted as a key component of the learning portfolio all colleges of pharmacy need to have to demonstrate student achievement.

Aunty Alice's curator insight, October 6, 2013 5:40 PM

I have practiced a system that covers four of the 5 key strategies for many years starting at five years of age.  I would not teach any other way. With this kind of assessment students after seven years of age can lead parent teacher conferences with ease and confidence. Had a dad in tears once who confessed it was the first time his son had talked meaningfully to him about his learning. Then I was in tears too....

Aunty Alice's curator insight, November 21, 2013 5:03 PM

A good little diagram but it does not address the issue of how to do it..it requires modelling, first by the teacher, then slowly devolving the responsibility to the learner, and focus on one subject area at a time e.g. Literacy . In my experience it also requires set aside time with each student to assess together, recording what has been discussed so it is not forgotten. I am talking about elementary learners here..

Paul Avila's curator insight, November 30, 2013 6:57 PM

This is an interesting idea to use in the classroom. It would motivate students to improve their skills to achieve these badges. I would suggest implementing these with some incentive system so that students pursue these badges instead of earning them passively as useless labels. These badges can be useful to track progress of historical thinking skills.
