Boston startups driving the future of web video innovation, despite the incumbents

Boston startups driving the future of web video innovation, despite the incumbents | Infos | Scoop.it

Last week, YouTube took a cue from its big brother Google and rolled out “Analytics.” A step up from the “Insights” tool, this new functionality aims to help video creators understand what’s working for them, make better videos, and grow audiences -- and to become the gold standard for measuring video content, just like Google Analytics is for web traffic.

How connected devices will disrupt the TV ad market

How connected devices will disrupt the TV ad market | Infos | Scoop.it

Linear TV makes up the bulk of video ad dollars today, with about $160 billion worldwide being spent on broadcast advertising, compared to just $5.4 billion in IP-delivered video. But a rapidly growing number of connected devices will soon disrupt what we think of as TV advertising, by combining TV-sized reach with all the interactivity, targeting and analytics advertisers have come to expect from web video ads.

7 Expert Tips for a Killer B2B Google Display Network Strategy - OMI

7 Expert Tips for a Killer B2B Google Display Network Strategy - OMI | Infos | Scoop.it
Search marketing expert Joe Kerschbaum shares 7 tips for effectively using the Google Display Network for B2B marketing.

Key excerpt...

Here are a few statistics from a recent Demand Gen report, “2012 B2B Buyer Behavior Survey:” 67% of B2B buyers are using a wider variety of resources to research vendors & products; 55% say they spend more time researching purchases; 60% of buyers state that white papers and other authoritative content are extremely influential in the purchase process.

The data from this report is important, especially for the GDN, for a few reasons:

In general, B2B buyers are spending more time researching purchases online. This means that the GDN is a perfect match for this mindset. On the GDN advertisers can place ads alongside content that is relevant and timely for their products. Also, the purchase intent of B2B buys is a great match for the GDN. When many B2B buyers are conducting research, they aren’t in the mode to purchase yet. They are still in the research mode. We have found that softer conversion actions such as whitepapers, case studies, free trials and free demos work great on the GDN. So, the mindset of a B2B buyer is focused on research and hunting great content – and the by placing ads through the GDN, advertisers can get in front of the right people at the right time with the right conversion action.

comScore: Time Spent Watching Live Web Video Up 650 Percent

comScore: Time Spent Watching Live Web Video Up 650 Percent | Infos | Scoop.it

comScore has just released some telling stats about the massive growth of live streaming video over the web. According to the analytics company, over the past year, the amount of time American audiences spent watching video on the major live video publishers (Justin.tv, Ustream, Livestream, LiveVideo, and Stickam) has grown 648% to more than 1.4 billion minutes. Of course, video consumption on the web has grown generally—U.S. audiences watching YouTube and Hulu increased 68% and 75%, respectively, over the same time period. comScore says that even though live stream viewership still represents a fraction of the total time spent watching online video, it does indicate that viewers are increasingly looking for live streams on the web.

While live online video sites don't have nearly as much of an audience as static video sites, the live video sites have been able to keep their audiences more engaged for a longer period of time. For example, the average live streamed video view is 7% longer than the average online video view. (Time Spent Live Web Video Up 650% http://tcrn.ch/cttov7 . Why? Apple iPad Pro With 4K Display Now In Development By Foxconn

Apple iPad Pro With 4K Display Now In Development By Foxconn | Infos | Scoop.it

When Tim Cook says Apple has "Big Plans" for 2014, perhaps what consumers can look forward to is the high resolution in their new products.

According to latest rumors, Apple will be producing the "iPad Pro" with a 4K Retina display.

There are reports coming from supply chains in China claiming that Foxconn has already display a model for the 12.9-inch 2K iPad Pro, and is currently developing the 4K model and the display resolution could be 4096x3072 pixels.

If we were to ask the more essential question: Other than watching high resolution movies, what would you do with an insanely high resolution iPad?

Well, Duke University researchers are developing a 1 billion pixel camera that would capture photos with incredible details.

Other than that, with breakthroughs in medical imaging and virtual 3D models, the high resolution just might be useful in such 'Pro' situations.
