Teenage girls read magazines, watch reality television, and go on social media almost everyday. The people they see inside the covers on magazines are instantly people they look up to and want to be like.  These things affect the way girls dress, and act.  Teenagers will see the way people are acting and dressing on television and they will think that it's okay to be like that because it gets so much attention from the media.  Celebrities and popular tv shows set examples for the teenagers who are watching them and they aren't always the best people to look up to.  Teenagers are definitely affected socially and mentally by all of the news and pressure to be like everyone else.  This causes many girls acting like people they are not because they think that it is okay because that is what is portrayed in the media. There are only few celebrities now who are setting good examples for the girls reading about them in magazines and seeing them on television.

I agree with you. The media portrays that girls need to be "picture perfect" and causes self-esteem issues. Girls should learn to be themselves.

How Pop Culture Affects Teens - Fashion

This article is stating how fashion isn't just your clothes. It's almost everything about you: the way you walk, the way you talk, etc. Fashion can affect your life in many ways. It affects your friend group, and they way people look at you. Many teenager's friends influence each others fashion sense even if its not something that they want to wear. Teenagers cling to fashion to express who they are and give them a sense of maturity and the ability to make their own decisions even if it is of just what they are wearing. Teenagers are at a point in time where they are constantly experimenting with fashion just to fit and try to find themselves and what suits them. Fashion is something that is constantly changing so trying to change yourself to fit in with all the new things going on is something that almost all teenagers can't help but doing.
