Blogs: Do They Serve Any Real Purpose? | #Blogging #ICT #Communication #LEARNing2LEARN #LEARNingByDoing | InformationCommunication (ICT) | Scoop.it
Does the average person even know or understand what a blog is? Do professionals understand how blogs influence their profession? Are teachers using blogs as both relevant reading and writing tools? Are students using blogs to create their voice? Do people in general see any importance in blogging to reflect, question, criticize, or improve the world in which we live?

Do blogs have a value in our world today that is at least understood, if not appreciated, by those who should? Does the access to blogs require too much tech savvy, critical thinking, and a mindset different from the 20th Century to prevent the acceptance of blogs as a change force in our 21st Century world?

Will a large enough group of people even read this post to make a difference or will people need to print it out to share copies with others?

How to Digitize Old Photos with Your Smartphone

How to Digitize Old Photos with Your Smartphone | InformationCommunication (ICT) | Scoop.it

"We all have old photos that are important to us. Vacations, family members who are no longer with us, good times in our lives—you know, important stuff. The thing is, pictures fade. The best way to keep these precious memories safe is by digitizing them, and what was once a lengthy process can now be done—with pretty exceptional results—directly from your phone.

Obviously, the best way to scan your photos is with a dedicated scanner with the right settings—or maybe by using a photo scanning service like Memories Renewed or DiJiFi. But Google has an app called PhotoScan, available for both iOS and Android, that works remarkably well with almost no work on your part. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money or time, this will do a good job."

6 steps to Media Creation in the classroom

6 steps to Media Creation in the classroom | InformationCommunication (ICT) | Scoop.it
As we prepare students for the unknown work environment of the future, it is important that we, as teachers, work with them to develop a foundation of skills that will help them become successful in avenues beyond our school’s walls. While we may not know exactly what the future skills in the workplace may be, we can foster this particular skill set in our current classrooms. According to a report by The Economist Intelligence Unit, employers desire workers with an increasingly demanding skill set including: problem-solving, digital literacy, leadership and creativity. To that end, creating media content in our classrooms can foster all of these skills. By having our students create content using voice, images, video, or any combination of the three, we are allowing them the opportunity to express themselves in ways that may not be possible in a written assignment, while developing the skills necessary for the future.
