Seven new iPad apps to know about | eSchool News

Last month, we launched a brand-new feature called App of the Week, in which our editors highlight a new educational app every week. Here are the first seven apps we've featured.

The New Evernote 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Our apps never stop evolving. Every few weeks, we release an update that adds something new or improves an existing feature. It’s not often that we launch a complete redesign. In fact, it happens only once every few years. That’s what we’re doing today with our huge, new Evernote 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

…sharing stories that reflect on the present & future system of education
Jason Epstein's insight:

Well Said, "it is not about “21st Century Teaching/Learning” as a century is a long time; while 80 years from now, we will still be in the 21st Century, I hope that teaching and education will look significantly different than it does today." This is why I hate BUZZ WORDS & PHRASES!  This post articulates why these terms are detrimental to education.

Jinha Lee's Works and Thoughts
Jason Epstein's insight:

Holy Sci-Fi Batman!  This is incredible.  My head is all over the place imagining what can be done with this technology.  This takes interaction to the next level!  What is next, being able to assign physical properties to different materials so that they can be "felt" while manipulating them?  Could prototypes be manipulated so that "real-world" stresses could be put on them by the actual creator's hands?  C'mon man!  How could you not LOVE this stuff!?!?!?

Clever Students Use Game Theory to Get Perfect Scores on an Exam

Clever Students Use Game Theory to Get Perfect Scores on an Exam | Information Technology | Scoop.it
Dr. Peter Fröhlich of Johns Hopkins University grades exams so that the highest scoring exam receives a 100% grade and all others fall below on a curve. It wasn't a Kobayashi Maru scenario, but his exams are hard.
Jason Epstein's insight:

First, Kudos to the author for using Kobayashi Maru in this article!  Second, this is the best example of collaborative work from these students.  Third, I would never recommend students do this, as I don't believe that all professors would be as "philosophical" about such a maneuver.

Social Media For Administrators (Blog Posts) | Connected Principals | Information Technology | Scoop.it

George Couros writes, "I recently decided to compile some of the blog posts that I have written regarding social media and administrators on my own blog site. I have created a “page” for these articles that I will continue to update as I write posts that may be helpful, but I just wanted to share this as a blog post to those people who may subscribe to this through an RSS feed or email subscription. There are so many good articles out there but I wanted to compile the ones I have written to help to continuously develop my own portfolio of work."
